optional skate, but looks like Arshdeep Bains coming in for Jacob Quillan tonight for #Canucks. Bains practised Friday on 1st line w Pettersson and Boeser. On defence, appears Tom Willander could return, w Schenn and Mancini extras.
I think it runs a lot deeper than president GM. I feel they more manage the team less so other issues. Just feels like something people in player development should be monitoring.
I mean in all honestly I doubt a proper psych department is something I think they ever even properly invested in. We would know more about it if they did. But ya historically there’s a lot of penny pinching going on so if money is going anywhere it’s not going here.
Thing with counselling is that often it’s hard for people to find the right fit. If you’re not the type to spill the beans it’s hard to do that with someone that you don’t feel comfortable with. The thing too is it needs consistent application for results.
The electricity he played with was unbelievable. If we weren’t such a dogshit team he could have built a legacy to be one of the best checking/complimentary forwards we’ve ever had.
Crazy to me how he just started working with mental coach end of last season. Team should have had him working with a mental coach ages ago. There’s been a clear psychological disconnect for a while now. Would like to see those resources better used going forward.

100%. There’s no taking back Kotkaniemi for assets. The only deals I’m making for players like him are for futures which they should be exploring 100%. Hard with a fast rising cap because teams have space now and bad contracts don’t hurt as much as they did in the flat cap era.
He’s been criticized of his work ethic before. I’m not sure if management is trading EP40 they want to bring in another guy with a similar past record of flipping the switch on and off.
That being said I’d take him if the package coming with him was huge (multiple 1st’s+Nadeau)
