If it ends up being the case that First Assistant US Attorney Bill Essayli falsely charged lawful residents of registering to vote when they did not actually do so, in this highly sensationalized and publicized lawsuit, he should not only lose his bar license, but he should be personally sued for defamation and criminally investigated for misusing his office and the power of the Department of Justice. latimes.com/california/story…

I have heard from constituents detained in Adelanto about the horrific conditions — unsafe, unhealthy, and inhumane. That’s why I joined @OversightDems and members of the CA delegation to get answers at Adelanto. We won’t stop working to put an end to Trump’s unlawful immigration tactics.

This shooting is unconscionable. No parent should send their children to school not knowing if they will make it home, and I am grieving for these families. Guns are the leading cause of death for kids in America. Thoughts and prayers are not enough. We cannot continue to lose lives because of inaction. cnn.com/2026/10/15/us/oregon…

Sad but not surprised to hear of the mass shooting plot against the Hindu community in Aurora, IL. The Trump administration and its MAGA allies have continued to encourage white nationalism and anti-Asian hate over the past two years, whether it was DHS’s ad campaign calling on “Mr. Singh” to stop driving trucks and deport himself (which led to the stabbing death of a Sikh truck driver a few days later), a MAGA Texas state legislator calling out South Asian UT Austin football fans as “foreigners” trying to displace real Americans, or so much more. The decent people of this country must continue to work together to stamp out hate and racism. Thankful to the suspect’s coworkers who reported the threat and to Aurora police who acted swiftly to prevent a tragedy.

Kimberly Guilfoyle is accused of selling access to the Trump administration to pay off a $100,000 credit card bill, and the White House is thanking her for her service? A resignation is not accountability. These allegations demand a full investigation, not a polite sendoff from the most corrupt administration in American history.

No one is above the law. But given this administration’s history of weaponizing federal law enforcement, particularly at DHS, and its openly racist attacks against Ilhan Omar, this looks on its face like a political attack against one of Trump’s most vocal critics, something that is straight out of the authoritarian playbook.   Congress deserves answers, and if this is a political attack, people need to go to jail. This is America, not a dictatorship.

A quick update from Newport Beach on the coastal flooding impacting our communities. Thankfully, it appears the worst is behind us, thanks in large part to the tireless efforts of our local emergency response crews. But a flood advisory remains in effect, and elevated tides continue to pose risks along our coastline. Please exercise caution and follow local safety guidance. Governor Newsom’s emergency order remains in place, and my office will keep pushing to ensure Orange County receives the state and federal resources our communities need.

We are continuing to closely monitor coastal conditions in Newport Beach as elevated surf and unusually high ocean water levels impact our coastline. Governor Newsom’s declaration of a state emergency in response to Hurricane Marie and in anticipation of El Nino means that Orange County and our local cities will be eligible for the federal and state aid they need.   While city beaches remain open, Newport Pier, Balboa Pier, and the Wedge (rock jetty to M Street) remain temporarily closed.   Residents and visitors are urged to observe all posted closures, stay off protective sand berms, and maintain a safe distance from active work areas as City crews continue reinforcing coastal flood protections.   Please continue to exercise caution, follow guidance from local authorities, and prioritize your safety.

The House just overwhelmingly passed the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act, which imposes sanctions on Russia and the top 5 largest importers of Russian oil. If Trump keeps cutting (illegal) oil deals with Russia, we may just have to start sanctioning ourselves.

ALERT: Newport Beach Flooding Advisory The City of Newport Beach is advising residents and motorists to avoid the Balboa Peninsula due to street flooding caused by recent storm conditions and elevated tides. Our office is closely monitoring the situation and urges residents to exercise caution, avoid driving through flooded streets, and follow all guidance issued by local authorities and public safety personnel.

If this reporting is correct, Kimberly Guilfoyle has committed out-and-out fraud. But in the most corrupt administration in US history, backed by the meekest and weakest Congress in history, there will be no investigations or accountability… until and unless Democrats take back control. wsj.com/politics/policy/guil…

Three years ago today, Israel suffered the worst terrorist attack in its history. The barbaric and horrific murder of 1200 Israelis with hundreds more taken into captivity shocked decent people across the world. My thoughts continue to remain with the families and loved ones of those victims and also with those who are experiencing antisemitism here at home. I also mourn the Palestinian civilians who have been killed in Gaza, including tens of thousands of children. I pray for peace and a stop to the violence in the Middle East, and as a member of Congress, I will continue to do all I can to try to achieve that goal.

We’re getting our lunch eaten as film and TV production moves overseas—and California workers are paying the price. I caught up with @SenAdamSchiff about the bipartisan push to bring production back to the US, create thousands of good-paying union jobs, and keep this critical industry where it belongs: right here at home.

I was glad to visit the Philharmonic Society of Orange County and congratulate them on receiving a $30,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to support their upcoming America 250 Celebration Concert Series. For decades, the Philharmonic Society has helped bring world-class music and arts education to Orange County. I appreciated the chance to learn more about their work, hear about the programming they have planned for the year ahead, and celebrate this well-deserved federal investment in the arts. Congratulations to the entire Philharmonic Society team!

I had a great time visiting Inkas in Irvine, a women-led, family-owned Peruvian restaurant that has been serving our Orange County community for more than 25 years. Founded by a mother and her two daughters, Inkas has built something special by sharing traditional Peruvian food, culture, and hospitality with generations of customers. And trust me, it’s delicious! Thank you to Anna Montoya and the entire Inkas team for welcoming me in and for all you do for our community! And happy Hispanic Heritage Month!

I was excited to join AstroForge in Huntington Beach for the unveiling of DeepSpace-2, its newly built spacecraft set to launch in early 2027. AstroForge is working right here in Orange County on technology that could help shape the future of space exploration and critical mineral supply chains, with the goal of becoming the first commercial company to successfully mine asteroids for platinum group metals. It was great to see this kind of cutting-edge aerospace innovation happening in CA-47, and I’m looking forward to seeing what comes next.

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, I had the privilege of recognizing retired Brigadier General Michael J. Aguilar for his extraordinary service to our country. Over a 30-year career in the United States Marine Corps, General Aguilar made history as the first American of Mexican descent to attain the rank of general officer in the Marine Corps. Today, he continues his commitment to service as President of the Flying Leatherneck Historical Foundation, helping preserve the history and legacy of Marine Corps aviation. I had the pleasure of touring the Flying Leatherneck Museum with General Aguilar this summer, and it was an honor to return and present him with a Congressional Certificate of Recognition celebrating his trailblazing career of service, leadership, and opening doors for the generations that follow. nbclosangeles.com/news/local…

I had the honor of presenting the Congressional Award to several outstanding young people from CA-47, recognizing their commitment to personal growth, community service, and leadership. This year, CA-47 was home to one of the highest numbers of Congressional Award recipients in the country. Congratulations to each of them on this incredible achievement. I’m proud to see so many young people in our community setting ambitious goals, serving others, and leading by example.
