As we continue promoting the Right to Food in Kenya under Article 43, we convened a Technical Review & Validation Workshop on Realizing the Right to Food in Kenya Curriculum for Legal Practitioners. The workshop brought out excellent discussions and debates on the actualization and advancement of the Right to Food through law, including the role of legal practitioners in advancing food safety, consumer rights, access to justice and accountability. We appreciate HBS Route to Food, LSK Nairobi Branch, Law Society of Kenya, Kenya Judiciary Academy, The Kenya School of Law, Katiba Institute, Office of the Ombudsman, FAO , ISFAA, Right to Food Coalition Kenya, and all participating advocates for their valuable contributions. #RightToFood #Article43 #FoodSafety #ConsumerRights #NotSafeNotFood

Article 46. Consumer rights (1) Consumers have the right-- (a) to goods and services of reasonable quality; (b) to the information necessary for them to gain full benefit from goods and services; (c) to the protection of their health, safety, and economic interests; and (d) to compensation for loss or injury arising from defects in goods or services. #ConsumerRightsWednesday
Know your rights, use your voice to shape the food system. Article 46 of Kenya’s Constitution gives consumers a powerful voice in shaping the food systems we want. It guarantees our right to quality goods and services, information for responsible choices, protection of health, safety and economic interests, and compensation for harm caused by defective goods or services. In our food systems, this means the right to safe, nutritious and quality food, accurate information, fair markets and protection from harmful or deceptive practices. From farm to fork, consumers must not be passive recipients. We have a voice in demanding safe food production, transparent labelling, sustainable practices and accountability across the food value chain. Article 46 is more than a constitutional provision; it is a tool for building food systems that are safe, sustainable, inclusive and fair. #ConsumerRights #FoodSystems #RightToFood #Article46
