Yes. Balance is key. By all means criticise Carrick's management this season so far, but don't pretend he didn't earn the job based on last season's performances, or that the other available managers weren't even bigger risks.

Carrick is a cautionary tale. A manager comes in, implements a stable style which uses the players effectively and gets them to perform well enough even against big sides. It's not perfect or flawless, but it's a good starting point.
The following season, rather than build on those ideas, he abandons them in favor of instant results (which he isn't even getting).
