It's a seemingly never ending sea of red for the skin market📉
Personally I think it's a mix of several factors, the first being the state of the game.
It's no secret that there are a lot of cheaters right now in CS but it has always been that way right? Well Valve introduced premier so more people played their servers than just going to Faceit, yet there is still no decent anti cheat to support the more competitive environment offered.
I think this creates a vicious cycle where the typical player encounters more cheaters and is more likely to rage cheat themselves or just give up playing completely.
Secondly, the lingering effects of the trade up update and to a lesser extent the souvenir update which obviously changed market fundamentals significantly, I think this one effects high tiers a lot since more people think twice before dropping good money on an expensive skin after being burned - the pumping and dumping definitely doesn't help either.
I believe these are the biggest two factors why people are selling off in droves, the cheating problem is the worst it has ever been.
Am I hopeful the market will recover? Eventually I think so, when it's affecting Valve's bottom line I think they'll kick in to gear and the player count is still relatively high, albeit dropping for a while.
Just wanted to give my opinion on this since I've been having a lot of conversations about it lately and find it interesting.
Happy to hear others opinions too - are people hopeful as well or completely lost faith?
