Have to go back and watch, but it looks like Matthew Schaefer became the first to play all 5 mins of overtime in NYI's 4-3 shootout win in Nashville. Islanders gave him a breather with a timeout before powerplay at 2:17 of OT, but he was out there for all of it. Unbelievable

Last night, #Isles D Matthew Schaefer became the first player in NHL history to play all 5 minutes of regulation OT. His OT shift is officially the 13th longest in NHL history. Schaefer also played the final 0:32 of the third period. The 5:32 shift time would be the 8th longest in NHL history, but since it was a different period, it’s not counted. Incredible.

An #isles win like this deserves a lengthy #Skinny. Varly's 290th win is his first in nearly 2 years, Schenn hits 300 goals, and then there is Schaefer, who set club and league records in OT. SO goals for Palmieri and Horvat make this a very happy recap of NYI 4-3 win in Nashville. nyiskinny.com/2026/10/the-sk… #NHL #NHLStats

Just the 6th ever #Isles win in Nashville in franchise history. In 21 road games, #Isles are now 6-12-0-3 against #Smashville.

Almost always, you go to the shooter who wins it in OT or a SO. The #Isles went for Varlamov.

#Isles D Matt Kessel has had just one shift in the third period and has 4:48 of ice time in total tonight. That’s what happens when you go 7/11.
