Today is a special day. Not only is it @RobinEllacotFan’s birthday (a big Happy Birthday to her!) but it’s also 10 years since 19-year-old me braved the trip to the big city of London to meet up with her for the very first time to do Strike locations. I remember being terrified and unsure whether I would go or not, but that single trip changed my life. A huge thank you to Paula for encouraging me to go and touring us through the city. We explored locations from the first three Strike books and took photos for a fansite we were about to start working on. I have a lot of nostalgia for that trip, it’s where it all began for me. I thought maybe the website would be a cool idea but then ultimately flop and end up getting deleted. But it grew along with the series and six months in we were invited to the first screening of The Cuckoo’s Calling in 2017 where we also interviewed Tom Burke and Holliday Grainger. I wouldn’t have believed you if you’d told the younger me that one day I’ll be visiting the sets of the TV show and hanging out with the cast and crew, and then meet J.K. Rowling in person and have a nice long chat with her about the series. I have to pinch myself all the time and remind myself of all the amazing stuff that’s happened and all the people I’ve met over this past 10 years. The Strike series really has changed my life, it’s been the best hobby ever.
