Flemington R3 - interesting marketm
The market is forecasting True Rebel to improve 1-2L out to 2000m for the first time. $2.30 seems short but he is talented.
Joely is crying out for 2000m and gets it now with a soft draw. That Thousand Guineas form looks good for this. Can she settle closer?
Written Empire the map horse/potentially looking for 2000m now. Will peobably be 2-3L ahead of the two in the market
Heirachy draws terrible but was strong late LS. Best of the rest.
Got it wrong! Great win. So much natural speed. Would be following second.
R3 GEELONG - Not sure if I am seeing the right market?
Aurora Belle $1.90? That seems very short. Yes, she led throughout and won well LS, but they went slow and she got it all her own way. Suggest they go faster here. That race went 3L slower than standard and she was entitled to do more late.
MISTY WHISPER looks to get the right set up. He was electric late running the fastest final 200m 6L faster than standard two-back and he was great against the race shape at this track LS. 1300m on a solid tempo looks perfect now.
SILVER DAGGER looks way over the odds. He is a first-up horse, posting his two biggest ratings (87 and 89) first-up in the native Tasmania. 1300m, first-up, with a good draw looks like a set play. He will outrun his price.

Happy to be with THE EUPHRATES in the Geelong Cup. He has consistent ratings that basically win this race and there is no reason why he can't improve fourth-up with a 2400m run under the belt. That Metrop form looks like the best form for this.
Point of Law main danger. Draws the car park (18) and will need a brilliant ride by Ethan Brown. His the one with a ton of upside that could blow them away.
Vegas Jack worth having something on E/W. He is flying. The form out his run two-back was good in BM84 Grade and his Hamilton Cup race rated through the roof. 2400m ideal now and should be half the current quote.
Not a great day yesterday. Plenty of seconds again. Grafterburners and Calvary Girl the winners.
Think we assessed the Randwick/Doomben races perfectly.
Caulfield another story. Cup we got right/winner too good. Early bets were dumb. Especially Fringilla. We live and learn.
Thank god we get back to Flemington.
Quick Preview of the Everest from yours truly. Will wait to just before the jump to bet (If I do in fact bet).
KA YING RISING is clearly the one to beat but at $1.60 I think he is about at his right price (could get him a touch longer). He is a champion, but he does his best racing back home and he wasn't dominant last year. Is he better? Probably. Are ours better or similar? Probably. He is a clear cut favourite and his legacy does ride on Saturday's performance.
TEMPTED has gone from strength to strength and is arguably our best sprinter. She was dynamic last start when smacking some good horses and that rating (106.3) has her within a length or two of the champion. Can she improve again? I somewhat doubt it, but punters may disagree.
HEADWALL is the place play for me. I thought he was excellent first-up when luckless behind Tempted, before running on okay in a farcically run Shorts. He will be running on late and isn't without a hope.
JIMMYSSTAR the only other hope. The blinkers went on and he got back to his best in he Manikato when smashing a sub-par field. He was terrific in this race last year and finishes closer with a better run. He will be flashing home late.
Four chances. HEADWALL and Jimmy the place bets.
R1 Caulfield SKUA is over the odds in a big way. Hasn't smashed the clock/rated overly well but he showed a good turn of foot two-back and was impressive LS in a race most of these come out of when 3WNC throughout. Ran the third fastest final 200m still which indicates 2000m is right up his alley. Marked $4. Big overlay. ARAGOG is another overlay marked $4. Back on dry ground with the gun run/has the peak figure.
Not sold on the Victorian form in the Thousand Guineas. I think Over the Bridge ($6) is the best horse in the race but she draws wide (13) and is going from 1200m-1600m in a G1 which is not easy. There are enough negatives.
Regal Ambition looks very short at $3.80. Is she definitely the best of the local brigade? She got the perfect run/sit behind Pretty Baby LS off a hot speed and only narrowly beat it. Could easily see the tables turned given the South Australian will get a great run.
De Armas is an interesting runner. Generally, the Sydney form has stood up in both Guineas and I thought she was excellent behind Global Goal on the inferior ground in the Flight Stakes. There is an argument to suggest she will run better at her second try at the mile and with a faster tempo in the race.
Sing Your Song looks the value runner. The form out of her win two-back over 1400m is excellent. Wonka has subsequently won in black type and the runner-up put up an enormous rating when winning a maiden at 1200m last week. She then went to Kensington and was doing her best work late off a slow tempo over 1400m behind Alabama Fox who is racing well. Draws well (2) and 1600m seems right up her alley now. Value at $16.
1U WIN #4 DE ARMAS @$7
0.75U WIN #11 SING YOUR SONG @$17
The way I will be playing the Caulfield Cup is as follows.
1U WIN #12 SAINT GEORGE @$11
1U WIN #16 ZAHRANN @$8
0.5U WIN #7 ENFJAAR @$18
0.5U WIN #19 THE EUPHRATES @$26
Main bets are on the side of history. The Natrualism/Turnbull are the key lead ups and it is easy to forgive the runs in the Turnbull on a wet deck and with the tempo against. Back to dry now, both draw perfectly and will get every chance.
Enfjaar has an impressive overseas profile and draws to do no work. Rated $11. The Euphrates was terrific two-back over 2000m before copping an average steer in the Metrop. Good draw. Likely leader. Could pinch it.
Saint George the big winner of the draw. $8 still value considering CC barrier. It and Zahrann nearly favourites by the jump.
I have been semi against him all prep Cosmic Crusader and I feel like he is too short again in the CC. Just feel like he had his birthday in the Turnbull. Got a preferred wet deck, had a bit of fitness on rivals, and got a great run. Completely different on Saturday on a fast deck at Caulfield. He is a chance but $4 is poison.
Saint George the one I keep coming back too. Dominant three-back when wide throughout at this track to beat Litzdeel/Shockletz before going to the Naturalism. Done a heap more work than Zahrann did in that race and was as strong to the line. Forgive Turnbull. If he draws well, he is value at $11.
Point of Law the untapped overseas who might have class edge. Knight's Choice the overlay at a price. Unlucky last two, perfect set up for Grand Final now. $26 seems a big price. Should have beaten Pinhole and that horse would be $11-$12 here.
