The 14th Amendment protects everyone; any rule, any law, any regulation, any policy, that gives one set of people rights other people donβt have is inherently unjust, unconstitutional, and fundamentally at odds at what America should aspire to be.
I give people I disagree with a lot of leeway. Because I know that if I can get them to change their mind, or at least change how they think about my side, that has a lot more impact. Of course, I run out of patience a lot. But itβs nice when it happens.
I have often said that not knowin' stuff is fine. We all start off ignorant, after all. Refusin' to learn stuff when people are trying to make you less ignorant, on the other hand, is just dumb. I have a long story about one of the dumbest people I have ever met.
This account was 900 on Friday. It's now at 2.3K. (Yes, I pay way too much attention) I'm blown away by that. Many of you want a follow back, and I don't blame you. If you do, and I haven't, keep in mind I'm tryin' baby, I'm tryin'. And welcome. I'll try to be amusin'.
Example: I expressed my support for Sec. Buttigieg. And I got a MAGA person who 1) Started off her statement with an insult, and 2) claimed he was incompetent. Look, I'm pretty generous, but I do not believe there are a lot of people who care who the Sec. of Transportation is.
While I'm at it...what is the overriding, most common characteristic of the Trump Administration and MAGA in general? It's that they're not competent, careful, or smart. Because those characteristics aren't valued in their circles. They act without thinking. And that can
work sometimes. Cats can scare off things much more dangerous than they are because many cats don't give a fuck. They go straight after whatever it is, convinced that even if they go down, they'll go down attacking. Mobsters are often scary not because they're tough and violent
During the Civil War, Union generals tasked with dealing with Robert E. Lee followed a pattern. Lee would do something surprising, the Union would take casualties, and then retreat to a safe place, nervous about what this daring commander would do (what he was doing
do. And Grant said "βOh, I am heartily tired of hearing about what Lee is going to do. Some of you always seem to think he is suddenly going to turn a double somersault, and land in our rear and on both of our flanks at the same time.
Unreliable evidence is not no evidence. If you don't accept a source as reliable, that's fine. But stop saying "no evidence." The explanation of the evidence is what matters, and any explanation that can deal with all the evidence is better than an explanation that can't.
You will never find someone more committed to due process than I. A person is presumed innocent when their trial begins. However, once they are convicted, they are guilty as a matter of law. I don't give a rat's ass if you don't think the witness was credible.
