In 2008 I visited Israel for the first time, interested in discovering more about this strange part of the world. On my first night I went to a restaurant. The food was amazing, but the waitress was out of this world. I would soon be living with her in Tel Aviv and by 2016, I would become her husband. That’s the magic of Tel Aviv and Israel. It can steal your heart and fill you with passion. So, thanks to my wife, Liat, I get to watch our crazy world spin from the heart of Tel Aviv. And I am still loving every second of it. Here’s to great memories.

I am in shock. I started to actively use X at the end of August this year. I was annoyed and angered at the anti-Semitic tropes being used freely in the mainstream media, the representation of Israel and the intimidation of the Jewish community in Ireland and around the world. I had had enough. So I started posting. By the end of September I had about 80 followers. Yesterday, when I woke I had 1.4k. Then I posted the first in my series entitled “Everything You Think You Know About Israel is (Probably) Wrong”. This morning I have 14k followers. I want to thank everyone who helped along the way, for the likes, follows and reposts. Please know this is only the beginning. Having worked in the media and seeing the level of antisemitism and misinformation out there, I am going to be an antidote. I am Israeli. I stand with the Jews and those who are pro-Israeli. I have no energy for the lies, hate and bile of antisemites and pro-Palestinians. Please spread the word. The next installment of “Everything You Think You Know About Israel is (Probably) Wrong” will be published in the coming days. Thank you from my heart.✊🇮🇱✡️💪❤️

I am not Jewish. But I am a proud Israeli citizen. I live in Tel Aviv. Despite the world having extremely opinionated views about the country I live in, few people I have come across on X (that don’t live here) know little of substance about Israel apart from their warped sense of history and reality. This is the first post of a series I will write entitled Everything You Think You Know About Israel is (Probably) Wrong. The points are not in any particular order. Spread the word. Most Israelis (just over 50%) are not white. The devastating impact on European Jews of the Holocaust meant that the newly formed Israel in 1948 was largely populated by Jews fleeing persecution in Muslim-ruled countries predominantly in the Middle East and North Africa. These are known as Mizrahi Jews and when the State of Israel was formed they made up 80% of the Jewish population living here. Jews have had a continuous presence in the land of Israel since around 1208 BCE, that’s 3,200 years — long before the creation of the state of Israel in 1948. The Muslim faith, in contrast, dates back 1,400 years (610 CE). Yes, when they lost majority rule in the 7th-century Muslim conquest they were not in the majority for centuries, but still lived in their ancestral homeland. Arab terrorism against Jews existed before 1948. In 1929, for example, 67 Jews were killed in the Hebron massacre, attacked and slaughtered by the Arabs they lived and worked beside. My wife’s great-grandfather Ben-Zion Gershon (who was a local doctor that often treated the Arab community without accepting payment) was tortured, had both his eyes gouged out and was then murdered. This was after his daughter Esther was raped in front of him, and his wife Zahava had both arms chopped off and was left to die. This was just one of many similar massacres inflicted on Jews that day. I will continue this series over the coming days.

Let's cut through all the crap with one undeniable fact: Israeli Arabs have higher life expectancy, higher literacy and more freedoms than the average citizen in most neighboring Arab states. It's not complicated.

What a delightful gift to receive. A small business in Israel that turns rocket detritus into beautiful works of art, and donates profits to bomb shelters and other charitable causes. Highly recommend.

No "arrogant Brit" gifted anything to Israel, which came into being as a State under a lawful and democratic UN Mandate. Israel, then as now, was populated not by "European settlers" but by long-term Jewish and Arab Muslim inhabitants, displaced Mizrahi Jews from across the Middle East, and displaced Holocaust survivors from Europe. No 750,000 were "ran out of their homes" - the vast majority of those left voluntarily, to avoid the war which their leaders, and the leaders of the surrounding nations, started in the hope of annihilating the new State. Their gamble backfired when, thankfully, Israel won that war against all the odds and built itself into a modern multicultural multi-ethnic democracy. The Arab Muslims who stayed behind played a big role in that success and still do so today.

This appears to be a commendable start to a long overdue conversation, given the overarching hostility to Israel and Zionism in the Irish establishment media Hopefully it will spark a most necessary dialogue and some much needed introspection in Irish society, specifically regarding the ways in which Zionism - a fundamental component of contemporary Jewish identity - is all too often depicted as evidence of cosmic evil by so-called "humanitarians" At a time of heightened antisemitism in Ireland, most lately seen in the Dublin hotel debacle, it's important to elevate voices willing to stand up to the most vociferous agitators

Ireland experience Free Palestine
⁉️BREAKING: 'Security threats' at schools across Northern Ireland following an email signed "Allahu Akbar" and referring to "Sharia law" 🎤 Chief Reporter @jamesgould23 speaks to Education Minister @paulgivan about this developing story. It comes as a number of schools have been evacuated or closed after receiving an email claiming that "an explosive device" was located in their buildings. The Minister says the threats appear to be "not viable" and that a process is now underway to assess the situation. He also has a message for parents who are understandably concerned this morning. Around 160 schools across Northern Ireland received the email. The PSNI is now investigating.

The Palestinian flag is an exercise in semiotics, writes Patrick West in Spectator Coffee House. It has become much more than an emblem of support for the aspirant state of Palestine: it now symbolises hatred and rejection of Western civilisation.

The teenagers and young adults were waiting outside the Dolphin Disco in Tel Aviv. When Saeed Hotari detonated the explosive device, ball bearings, screws, and metal objects ripped through the crowd. 21 killed and 120 wounded. This is a memorial to their memory.
