𝙊𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙚 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩𝙢𝙪𝙛𝙛 🔎 Introducing the goalkeeper who’s playing alongside players from Manchester United, Liverpool and Sporting CP for England U20s, while also in net for Stockport County in League One. Moulded by the Man City Academy, it’s no surprise Whatmuff looks up to Ederson and England’s potential new No. 1, James Trafford. You can see their influence through his impressive shot-stopping ability, composure and ridiculous passing range. The Lancaster lad signed for City at under-8s level and has risen through the age groups to play for The Citizens in PL2 and the UEFA Youth League at just 16. But it’s his experience in the National League and EFL that has impressed us the most... (Shock). Last season, Whatmuff went on loan to Rochdale in the National League and had the highest save percentage of any keeper who played more than 15 games. He also kept the second-most clean sheets in the league, culminating in saving two penalties in the play-off shoot-out that saw Dale win promotion back to the EFL. He earned his place in the National League Team of the Season after going up against some big, burly strikers as a 17-year-old. Seriously impressive. This season, he’s jumped up two leagues and has established himself as the No. 1 for League One favourites Stockport. You won’t be surprised to learn he’s also risen through the England youth teams, including captaining the U18s and, remarkably, getting an assists in a 6-0 win vs Portugal for the U19s, before notching another assist for Shim Mheuka in the U20s’ latest 2-1 win vs France.
