So many engineering lessons in here 👇
Rewrite the whole codebase 🤦🏼♂️
Tells you a lot about how people don’t understand
- users
- scale
- experience
- testing all flows
- security
- token cost with large codebase
- years of exceptions and special cases
- backward compatibility
- performance
- uptime
- compliance
- observability
Rewrite the whole codebase, don’t make any mistakes is the future 🤦🏼♂️
All of this drama/assumption works with 10-100 users, once you have real users, you will understand how difficult is to touch something that’s working. Let alone changing the entire codebase.
In progress
will set-up SEO for rankly.world today ✌️

First in my bloodline to
leave India and move to the US alone
be the first to go to college
do 5 internships before graduating
move from Nebraska to San Francisco
build a startup from scratch
get backed by a VC
go from $0 to $160K ARR
build a team and convince people to bet on the vision
somehow be fundraising, selling, building, hiring, and graduating at the same time
read books about being limitless while actively testing the limit every day
Mom and dad probably thought they were sending me to America to get a degree.
Things escalated.
Living the dream.

Meet Ayush Thakur a 27-year-old software/ML engineer at Walmart in Bangalore.
I don't know his exact in-hand salary, but this is how much he says he spends (including investments) every month:
1. Rent: 18,000
2. House help: ₹3,000
3. WiFi + subscriptions + electricity: ₹1,000
4. Groceries, food & protein: 12,000
5. SIPs / investments: ₹30,000
6. Misc (shopping + random 2 AM Amazon orders): ₹10,000
Total: ~₹74,000
Commute and office meals: 0- company provides cabs and food. He said, "This is the reason I romanticise my 9-to-5." He also joked that he puts 30k into SIPs because "I can't be trusted with idle money in my account."
Meanwhile, many TCS freshers take home around 22,000-₹25,000 a month. His rent alone is close to that entire salary, and he still invests more than some people earn.
Same Bangalore. One 27-year-old at Walmart spends almost nothing on commute or office food, invests ₹30,000 every month, and still calls adulting "one long bill." Another person in the same city is stretching 22,000 across everything.
The city is the same. The perks and the paycheck are not.
What's your monthly burn rate in Bangalore? And how much of it is actually invested?
Loved this:)
PS: planning to shoot a similar video too🙈
working theory -
most tool and equipment purchases when you're just starting in almost anything (business, growth, gtm, fitness, sales, content etc) are bullshit.
they are coping mechanisms, they are things your brain considers a proxy for progress when it actually isn't doing anything for you.
we are all now part of a generation that wants to buy professional equipment when we haven't even put in the work to be considered a newbie in the space.
the only right thing to do is get fundamentals right and do enough volume.
finding pockets of minor improvements don't do shit for you as a beginner if finding those pockets stop you from doing more reps.
