I don’t think OS will do anything positive for the Ordinals space and I think it’s completely unnecessary. The elephant in the room is simply more demand and user retention, but if we go even further back to the core, it’s the network.
Ordinals has better marketplaces than most other NFT chains. Buying an Ordinal is simple: download Xverse, go to a marketplace and buy. That’s not the problem.
The problem is that the current web3 space is saturated and has no interest in Ordinals or perhaps it once did but, quite logically, has completely lost interest. Within the old network (the Ordinals space), the extraction has been extreme and to this day, this system remains intact because the network is intact. By "network", I mean the timeline that most Ordinals people follow.
And as long as that timeline shows the same manipulated top 10 projects as "this is Ordinals", nothing will ever change for the old Ordinals space. And it remains a repetitive cycle of "Ordinals are dead" and "Ordinals are back" based on only 10 projects. Of course people are walking away.
But outside that network and that timeline, a lot is happening. It’s simply a matter of following other people, looking at other projects and suddenly the Ordinals space changes dramatically. But what could bring about even more change is attracting new people from outside Web3. The world is big, web3 is small. Simple.
OS will only add Ordinals if it has a direct stake in them and perhaps it’s a good sign that they don’t, because in web3, a stake usually means direct connections to VC projects and the ability to manipulate and extract value. Maybe OS is just more ethical and stays away from that. Unlike other major web3 marketplaces...
Suppose OS were to add Ordinals, that wouldn’t bring in new users, because where would they come from? If OS users were looking for new projects, there’s already plenty to find on OS itself besides Ordinals. In web3, supply far exceeds demand. Ordinals add to the supply, not the demand.
So what’s the solution? Attract new people from outside web3. Show them legitimate projects, quality and real communities. And the Proof of Work behind a project. What does a founder actually do? Who’s here during a bull market and during a bear market? What are the on-chain facts and what’s just stories?
If you want change, the first step is easy: change your timeline.
I believe that, despite the opportunism, OpenSea eventually supporting Ordinals would bring a new perspective and audience to the protocol.
But we cannot, even for a second, stop supporting and recognizing the real builders and devs who invested their life’s work into Ordinals.
Marketplaces, tools, and infrastructure that simply didn’t exist before the Magic Eden era.
These guys held Ordinals close to their chest.
They never stopped fighting for what they believe in.
On the contrary, they built the tools that put Ordinals in a much stronger and more solid position than during the “Magic Eden era.”
The people who deserve our support are the ones who built the foundations.
They’re the ones carrying the responsibility of “Ordinals cannot be stopped.”
Acknowledge the insane amount of work that’s already been done.
What I want:
Ordinals on the biggest marketplace in the world.
But after someone buys their first Ordinal there, I want them to actually dive into the blockchain and discover the real tools and the real people who kept everything running until now.
IMO.

Passing over 50% minted in less than two days. Solid community. No hype. But continuous building on top of the Planets IP.
This is the way.
