🚨 | 𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚: Reports are circulating that Cristiano Ronaldo’s PR team has been privately messaging major sports media pages, offering paid promotions to push negative narratives against Argentina and Lionel Messi.
Its better to held a big Hackathon contest than airdrop, for sure
Late to this, but as a VC, here’s my perspective on airdrop farming:
Farmers are obviously not useful to projects.
@Cobie is right that as a VC, I ignore farming activity. I’m extremely skeptical of easily farmed metrics, and we always dig into the data to try to identify farming. Wherever we see it, we heavily discount it.
Farming is, by definition, people who pretend to use a product and pretend they will be long-term users, in order to get paid via an airdrop.
Let that sink in for a second. Crypto has broken all of our brains on this. If a normal consumer startup paid people to pretend to use their product and pretend to retain, that’d be considered fraud. Airdrops started as an idealistic and egalitarian practice, but the rise of industrial farming has evolved it into something straightforwardly toxic. Farmers try to emulate real users and make it hard for teams (and investors) to identify the difference.
So, no. Farming is obviously bad for startups. If it weren’t bad, farmers wouldn’t try to hide that they're farmers.
But farmers will reply: the value of farming is that farmers pump up metrics of successful projects, and therefore, it’s good for the projects.
This is so wrong it’s hard to even know where to start.
First, if farmers are “pumping up metrics,” who are they pumping them up to? Who is being fooled here by inflated metrics? Is it the VCs? If so, farmers are claiming that founders are conspiring with farmers to dupe their VCs. (And on many heavily farmed projects, VCs are underwater.)
Note: this is incompatible with the theory that VCs are the primary culprit of bad token launches. Either the VCs are dastardly villains conspiring with founders to dump on retail, or they’re stupid fools being duped by founders with farmer-inflated metrics. But it can't be both at the same time.
The other option is that it’s not the VCs who are fooled--VCs see through it--it’s retail who’s being fooled. So maybe farmers are conspiring with founders to dump on retail, and that’s why it’s good for founders. The problem with this theory is that founders don’t get to dump day 1, only farmers do. So by the time the chickens come home to roost, the metrics have already plummeted, the farmers got out by selling their airdrops, and the founder is left holding the bag. Only the farmers profited from retail, not the founder.
But even if we rationally agree with this analysis, to most people, it doesn’t matter. Because we all know that despite this, all good projects get farmed. So if nobody shows up to farm your project, that must imply your project is not good, and therefore you’ll do poorly in the market. Don’t you want to be like all the other good projects? So you need farmers to show up, whether you think they're parasitic or not.
This sounds convincing. But it’s totally wrong, for the age-old reason: correlation is not causation. Yes, good projects get farmed. But the project being good causes the farming, the farming doesn’t cause the project to be good. All big cities have crime, but that doesn’t mean crime is causes cities to get big. The causation is backward. You can have a good project that isn't farmed.
To tell you the truth, I think the actual dumb money here is the exchanges. Exchange listing teams reward farmed metrics more than VCs do. But the market is already correcting on this, and norms are changing. It’s just exchanges tend to be the last to notice, as they’re furthest back in the capital stack.
Now all that being said, there’s nothing morally wrong with airdrop farming. No more than there being anything wrong with running MEV bots or sniping token launches. The game is the game. As long as you’re following the rules, all is fair. So there's no reason to look down on airdrop farmers. They're strategically trying to make money with the resources they have.
But are farmers providing value to founders?
No, obviously not.
(Caveat: “Linear” farming is an exception--if you’re being paid to provide liquidity or an insurance backstop, or some other clear assumption of risk, I’d call that more classic liquidity mining, which is totally valuable. Or if you’re being paid to market make or provide tight spreads, that’s also valuable. This kind of farming is pay-for-performance that contributes to a product moat. But that’s not like the vibes based “pretend to be a user and touch everything" type farming I’m talking about above, which tends to be more common for L1/L2s or for consumer products.)

Listen carefully.
You say this is "Jewish land for 3,500 years."
But history is not a property deed.
If age alone gave ownership, the Canaanites would rise from the soil and evict you tomorrow.
If conquest gave legitimacy, Rome would still rule Jerusalem.
If scripture was a land title, every empire in history would resurrect to reclaim what it once held.
But history moves forward.
It does not sign contracts for eternity.
You call Canada, the UK, and Australia "weak and naïve."
But tell me, who created your state?
It was London that drafted the Balfour Declaration.
It was Washington that armed and funded you.
It was the UN that forced a partition on Palestine without its people’s consent.
You did not rise alone from the ashes.
You were delivered on the back of empire.
So spare us the courage talk.
You’ve been carried on another man’s shoulders since birth.
You say Palestine is a "Trojan horse for jihad."
No.
Palestine is the homeland of a people who were expelled, massacred, and erased from maps.
The refugee camps are not jihad.
The key around an old woman’s neck is not jihad.
The olive trees bulldozed in the West Bank are not jihad.
They are memory.
They are history.
They are lives interrupted by the myth you call sovereignty.
You say "Israel will never retreat."
But empires always say that, right before they fall.
France said it in Algeria.
Britain said it in India.
America said it in Vietnam.
History has never once been impressed by the boasts of occupiers.
"One state. One people. One land."
Yes, that is the dream of every settler colony, from South Africa to Rhodesia to French Indochina.
And every one of them believed it was eternal.
Every one of them said "we are here forever."
And every one of them fell.
Not because they were weak.
But because the people they tried to erase refused to vanish.
So keep chanting your slogans.
But remember: it is not the occupier who decides forever.
It is the land.
It is the people.
And both still speak the name you are trying to silence.
Palestine.
To Canada, the UK, and Australia: SHAME ON YOU FOR DECLARING A PALESTINIAN STATE!
From the heartland of Israel, my response is simple:
• This is not a “Palestinian state.” This is Jewish land for 3,500 years.
• You are weak and naïve, lecturing us while your own cities crumble under foreign flags.
• You just recognized a Trojan horse for jihad, not peace.
• Israel will never retreat. We will annex Judea & Samaria, extend sovereignty, and live here forever.
One state. One people. One land.
Am Yisrael Chai.

When European settlers displaced Native Americans, they too said it wasn’t ethnic cleansing. They called it "conflicting claims to the land."
When the French ruled Algeria, they too claimed ancient ties and called it a civilizing mission, not colonialism.
You’re not making a new argument. You’re just recycling it with better PR.
Let’s start with 1947.
The UN didn’t propose peace.
It proposed partition, not between two states, but between a native majority and a foreign settler movement that owned 6 percent of the land and represented one-third of the population.
The Palestinians didn’t reject peace.
They rejected a plan they never agreed to, written by people who never lived there, giving away land that was never theirs to offer.
What you call rejection, we call refusal to be erased on paper before being erased in stone.
You say "160,000" Palestinians remained.
You forget to mention the 750,000 who were expelled.
You forget the over 400 villages erased from the map.
You forget the laws that turned the Palestinians who stayed into second-class citizens on their own land.
Ethnic cleansing is not disproven by the survival of a remnant.
That’s what survivors are. The ones who were not killed, not exiled, not erased.
You say Jews were expelled from East Jerusalem and the West Bank.
Yes. That is what happens when a population rises against colonial settlement.
But that expulsion ended in 1967, when Israel took all of it, and still has not given it back.
You talk about Jewish indigeneity.
Let’s talk about it.
Being indigenous to a land does not give you the right to colonize it.
You cannot reclaim roots by uprooting others.
You cannot revive a past by extinguishing a present.
Indigeneity is not a license for apartheid.
It is not a moral shield for bombing refugee camps, bulldozing homes, or jailing children.
It is not a justification for a state that grants citizenship by bloodline and shoots journalists in the face.
Palestinians are not being punished for rejecting coexistence.
They are being punished for refusing to disappear.
You want to talk about ancient ties? Fine.
But if we are going back 3,000 years to justify modern supremacy, then every empire will rise again, every border will burn, and every genocide will have its excuse.
This is not a tragic clash between equals.
This is a military superpower, armed to the teeth, funded by billions, and shielded by the most powerful empire on Earth.
It is imposing itself on a stateless, occupied, and besieged people.
You say calling Israel a colonial, ethnic cleansing project is false.
But the mass graves say otherwise.
The checkpoints say otherwise.
The separation wall says otherwise.
The refugee camps say otherwise.
And the silence that follows every airstrike says it loudest of all.
You say denying one side’s history is dishonest.
What do you call erasing 77 years of dispossession, siege, and exile, and blaming the victims for surviving it?
This isn’t a conflict.
It is a conquest.
And the only thing more dishonest than denying it is pretending both sides hold the gun.

You ask, "Stole from whom?"
From the people who lived there.
From the farmers of al-Majdal, the fishermen of Jaffa, the families of Deir Yassin.
From 750,000 Palestinians who were driven from their homes at gunpoint and forbidden to return.
From the owners of lands, orchards, and keys who still carry their deeds.
That’s who.
You ask, "When did this theft occur?"
It began long before 1948.
With settlers arriving under British protection, buying land from absentee landlords, then expelling the peasants who had worked it for generations.
It continued through Plan Dalet. Through massacres and demolitions. Through the razing of 400 villages and the renaming of everything that came before.
And it has never stopped.
You ask if Hamas is the legitimate government.
Was the ANC legitimate in apartheid South Africa?
Was the FLN legitimate in French Algeria?
Was the Viet Minh legitimate when the U.S. called them terrorists?
Legitimacy doesn’t come from your approval.
It comes from the people who suffer and still resist.
You ask if they’ve done anything wrong.
Yes. But resistance has never required perfection.
No colonized people have ever been told to resist flawlessly, except the ones empire wants gone.
You bring up Cambodia and Thailand.
That is not a question. That is a deflection.
Neither Cambodia nor Thailand was built on the mass expulsion of the other’s population.
Neither denies the other's right to exist.
Neither pretends the land was empty.
And neither drops bombs on the dispossessed while claiming sacred entitlement.
You ask what makes me qualified to speak.
I am qualified because I know what colonization looks like.
Because my ancestors were conquered.
Because my people were called "gooks," "chinks," and "slopes" as they bled for their land.
Because I carry the memory of resistance. And I recognize its shape when I see it.
I’m Vietnamese.
We buried French colonialism. Then we buried American imperialism.
We didn’t win because we were polite.
We won because we refused to be erased.
So don’t ask me why I speak for Palestine.
Ask yourself why every colonized people recognizes themselves in Gaza.
You ask how many Muslim countries there should be.
The better question is, how many Jewish states require checkpoints, ethnic cleansing, and airstrikes to exist?
Palestine is not resisting Judaism.
It is resisting erasure.
And here’s the truth you cannot say out loud.
You weren’t hated for who you were.
You were hated the moment your nationalism arrived with tanks and roadmaps, and declared the people already living there a demographic problem.
They don’t hate your identity.
They hate the occupation that hides behind it.
They hate that you took their land, exiled their families, and rewrote their suffering, then called their grief "antisemitism."
This isn’t about how many Muslim countries should exist.
It’s about the one Jewish state being built on top of another people’s ruins.
And no amount of rhetorical gymnastics will make theft look like survival.
Or settler colonialism look like indigeneity.
