Here's a good look at Max Hamilton, a 6'2" righty out of Olathe who's known as a high-volume strike-thrower and has flashed three pitches to this point: fastball, changeup, slider. Velo 90-93, with a unique slingshot-type delivery. There were some very good moments for him yesterday, but then he also got introduced to this level of college baseball when Brock Thompson and Aubrey Kearns both took him deep. Both being lefties and being so veteran, that's just "growing pains" type stuff, so you just wanna see what their mentality is like when, not if, those things happen. He did walk Seabass afterwards, which was a touch disappointing, but totally understandable because he was probably trying to be too fine. But that's a complete guess on my part, and, again, regardless, that's just all part of this process of learning how to compete at this level. Hamilton appears to have above-average spin rates, probably hovering somewhere close to the 2300 RPM range, which is very good for his age. And considering the uncomfortable look he gives righties with his delivery, that's an intriguing combination. Good outing. Always fun to see the young guys compete. #GoPokes #OkState
