Aave protocol will be fine.
The hacker supplied 60M USDT and borrowed 19,762 wETH (~44.9M$) in 3 minutes, before Tether froze their address and before the Aave Guardian froze the Aave V3 Core reserves (46 min later).
But USDT is real money backed by dollars, and the position is criminal but overcollateralized in the eyes of the protocol: health factor 1.04, 59.9M$ of collateral against 44.9M$ of debt.
Sure, we now have a large borrower with little incentive to repay their loan, but liquidations work as usual: if ETH goes above ~2,365$ (+4%), the position gets liquidated like any other.
The Aave V3 Core wETH reserve is 2.16M wETH, so the hacker's debt is "only" 0.9% of it as I'm writing this.
I don't think Aave needs to take specific action against the hacker.
345k wETH is available right now (81.6% utilization), so wETH liquidity is sufficient if wETH depositors want to withdraw
There's no reason or need for a bank run.
The situation is much less dire than during the Kelp hack (zero-value collateral), and we should not expect a re-run of "DeFi United".
On paper, a governance proposal could force-liquidate the hacker by upgrading the Pool to target this single position (lowering the USDT liquidation threshold would hit every USDT supplier),
but I see no real upside in doing that as normal liquidation can eat this up without sweat.
The reserves are frozen now, but no need to panic; you can repay and withdraw. This isn't the first time this has happened, and it won't be the last, and Aave is still there.
Just another day in crypto.

I think a lot of people misunderstood what Sergey said about the $LINK token during his keynote at LINK:NYC.
This post from @ChainLinkGod and rewatching the keynote a few times really help clarify his message.
Sergey stated: "Chainlink is not focused on driving enterprise value or increasing equity. It's about increasing the adoption and usefulness of the Chainlink network as an impartial global infrastructure, and the $LINK token plays a critical role in that."
Many interpreted this as Chainlink prioritizing adoption over driving value to the token. But that’s not what he said.
He explained that the $LINK token is critical to the network, and as network usage scales, the utility and importance of $LINK will scale with it.
The token was never meant to represent equity in Chainlink Labs. It’s a commodity with a crucial role in the ecosystem.
He even reinforced this by saying: "You will see more and more cases where TradFi users acquire the token to use the system properly."
➡️This directly implies that the network is specifically designed around the utility of the $LINK token.
Chainlink spent years building a secure, reliable network. Now, they are shifting focus toward building end-to-end solutions to drive revenue and expand the network, a growth that goes hand-in-hand with increased $LINK usage.
At Link:NYC, @SergeyNazarov covers how the adoption of Chainlink, including its new end-to-end solutions, is set to generate increasing revenue
This value is cycled back into the network through the Reserve (on-market LINK buybacks) to ensure network security and growth long term
Sergey touches on how $LINK plays a critical role in the network, being used to align NOPs, contribute to security via staking, and acquired by TradFi users to pay for services
Sergey emphasized that increasing Chainlink adoption is *not* about maximizing any enterprise value or driving value to any equity, but that the LINK token is at the center of the network
Binance's initial investigation suggests that the security incident may involve a compromised DevOps engineer’s laptop, which allowed an attacker to gain access to a service container and submit unauthorized withdrawal transactions. We have found no evidence of any wallet private key leak. We will share a detailed technical post-mortem once the investigation is complete and the facts are fully verified.
The estimated total impact sits at around $6.3B. We have worked with blockchain partners to freeze affected assets, with ~$3 billion frozen on-chain so far.
Binance will cover all losses from the SAFU fund and the company’s funds. User funds are safe. We will also publish an updated Proof of Reserves once the remediation is complete.
As an immediate precaution, Binance has:
- temporarily suspended deposits and withdrawals while security checks are completed;
- revoked the affected address authorisation;
- engaged law enforcement and blockchain intelligence partners to trace and recover funds.
Our teams are working around the clock to resolve this issue safely and thoroughly. We are working closely with our law enforcement partners to confirm the identity of these criminals and bring them to justice.
Please rely only on official Binance channels for updates. Please feel free to contact Binance Customer Support if you have any further questions.

The CFTC held a 3 hour forum on AI agents trading in US markets.
@Chainlink's head of legal, @kkirkbos, moderated the agentic trading panel.
I went through the full transcript with my agent because I was curious what the vibe was here. Here's what matters for $LINK.
CFTC Chair Selig opened by saying blockchains are providing rails for autonomous agents to custody and trade crypto assets without banks, brokerages or other intermediaries. That's the chair of the CFTC, on the record. We'll hear more from him at Link:NYC.
@kkirkbos called infrastructure, the tech layer markets run on, Chainlink Labs' sweet spot. Then she asked where the CFTC fits in. The answer: its job starts when that tech actually trades, like placing orders or posting margin. Not at the infrastructure layer itself.
The themes kept landing on Chainlink's lane:
• Data integrity. Poisoned data feeds distorting price discovery was flagged as a top risk. Agents trading on bad data at machine speed is the problem oracles exist to solve.
• Identity. Every agent order should trace back to a responsible person, and firms may run hundreds of thousands of agents each. Verifiable onchain identity and compliance at that scale is a lane @chainlink is already building in.
• Payments. Stripe rolled out agent wallets to 350M users, and stablecoins were called the future currency of agents. Agents settling onchain need prices, proof of reserves and cross-chain movement. Chainlink's specialty.
• New markets. Compute futures have no price history for clearinghouses to margin against. Reliable reference data for new asset classes is oracle work.
• Tokenization. In her words, it's "here. It's active. It's present in our financial markets."
Fair caveats: no CCIP talk, no partnership news, no LINK price chatter, and Hedera was on the panel pitching its own ledger.
But the direction is clear. US regulators are planning for agents trading onchain, and @chainlink is at the table.
If you think ahead a little bit, this is massively bullish for $LINK.

An asset manager backed by Abu Dhabi's sovereign fund ADQ just picked Chainlink to police its tokenized trades.
The setup?
Further built Chainlink's compliance engine into Anubis, a platform that checks KYC, AML, ownership and sanctions rules before a trade goes through, starting in ADGM.
Hong Kong gold one day, Abu Dhabi money the next. Who plugs into $LINK after that?

25k a month for DTCC tokenization access.
If they're charging this much just for the onboarding phase, imagine how much they think anyone involved will actually make?
There's going to be a lot of money flowing through here and in turn a lot of money flowing into $LINK.
Interesting
The price rate of the DTCC tokenization is:
One time: 30.000$ and after that every month 25.000$ = 300.000$ yearly.
4000 financial firms are using DTCC services, which makes 1.2 billion dollar every year going to DTCC if all companies are on board
$LINK everything
