There is more sidelined capital than you think.
Both in crypto and TradFi.
Many of the rich investors/whales I speak to on a regular basis are still sitting heavily in cash.
Rich doesn't necessarily mean "smart money" btw - they will FOMO back in just like everyone else.

Who are we? We are traders. Who are we not? We are not fortune tellers. We are not "wise men" who can see the future.
We are emotionally resilient β we work hard to make our dreams come true. We do not rely on luck, although at times we may get lucky.
We observe and deduce. We act with confidence and decisiveness when an opportunity arises.
We are observers of behaviour. We accept that while history never repeats exactly, it rhymes often enough for us to profit from it. We never give up. We never lose faith in our ability to make money.
Our greatest enemy is our ego and our impatience. Our enemy is our desire to always be right. We accept and embrace the fact that we can be right 50% of the time and still make money.
We prepare ourselves mentally so that we can act in our own best interests in the heat of the battle. We never stop growing, and we never stop learning.
Your job is not to "know" what will happen, but to "know" what you will do when it happens.

Lack of Narratives -> Create New Narratives
We're currently in a phase where thereβs a noticeable lack of compelling narratives driving the crypto market. This isnβt new - after riding a few big narratives for months (like the ETF and AI "bubble"), the market often hits a point where it lacks clear direction. But since participants always need something to latch onto, they tend to "create" new narratives to fill that gap. This process is especially easy in periods of low liquidity, where moving prices becomes less challenging.
Take the recent "L1 Rotation" as an example:
A few well-known accounts identified an L1 that appeared to be bottoming out on higher timeframes (HTF). These accounts likely had a positive view of the coin for some time but hadn't been able to generate enough momentum previously. The lower liquidity environment provided the perfect conditions to finally push it. Bonus: If this L1 has large unlocks on the horizon (with VCs or funds likely hedging), it becomes even more enticing.
These players then begin posting about this L1, and since thereβs a general lack of strong narratives, others catch on. Bonus: The "L1 Rotation" is etched in the minds of many as one of the best trades in crypto. Even if you werenβt around during 2021, youβve probably heard of its "legendary" returns.
Price Becomes the Narrative
The initial price rise leads to early entrants profiting significantly, which in turn pushes the narrative further. They share their PnLs, triggering FOMO among other participants and creating additional buy pressure. This combination of increased bids, favorable liquidity conditions, and short squeezes propels the price into a strong upward movement. Meanwhile, other astute participants pivot into beta ecosystem plays to compensate for missing the initial price action. This broader buying activity drives prices up across the entire "ecosystem," leading to its appearance at the top of CEX rankings and aggregator rankings (CMC, CoinGecko, etc.), attracting even more attention and fueling a final wave of price acceleration.
As the price continues to rise, it eventually approaches HTF resistance levels, a critical point where early participants often decide to exit. This isn't just due to the natural progression of the narrative but also because these resistance levels are technically significant, making them ideal exit points. The combination of technicals and narrative-driven momentum leads to a stall in price as profit-taking occurs. If major assets remain stable, participants "trained" to rotate may move into other L1s that exhibit similar qualities to the initial one. However, in the current environment, these subsequent plays are less likely to perform as well as the initial push. The low liquidity environment that facilitated the rapid rise now becomes a double-edged sword, with algorithms and funds less likely to participate due to seasonality and market conditions.
In Summary
When thereβs no dominant narrative, itβs easy to create one. A bit of hype around a previously strong narrative, given the right environment, can lead to the birth of a new one. Understanding this dynamic allows you to position yourself ahead of the crowd, recognising when narratives are genuine and when theyβre simply the result of low liquidity and the market's need for something to believe in.

What are we expecting today for the Ethereum ETFs?
We expect them to begin trading tomorrow. That means we should see a bunch of filings on SEC site today that say the ETFs' prospectuses have gone "effective". Likely after or around market close. Here are the race entrants:

A lesson I learned in 2000-2002:
Using stops is critical to long term success (and survival). It can be frustrating when stocks reverse, but avoiding big drawdowns is key for longevity.
When a position gets stopped out, you can reinvest into other ideas. Once they unwind, that capital can be trapped for years or much longer.
$PYPL is -81% from the highs.
$SQ -78%
$ARKK -71%
$SNOW -68%
Some of these and others might not see new highs again or it could take an extremely long time.
Meanwhile, that capital is trapped and not working.

A really high-quality interview with a Former $NVDA Director on $NVDA's moat and the AI semi-industry. A must read:
1. $NVDA is not just a GPU. The real moat is in writing custom CUDA code to make the models run faster, using both the GPUs and the networking, and combining both. According to him, $NVDA can reduce computation time by almost 50% compared to its competitors. This edge was formed when $NVDA bought Mellanox, a networking company.
2. The reason why $GOOGL doesn't release TPUs to the public is because outside engineers mostly only know how to code CUDA, and $GOOGL TPUs do not use CUDA.
3. For competitors, it's not just about making a better GPU than $NVDA but about improving the whole ecosystem with software code and networking, which is extremely hard to do.
4. $NVDA has optimized its GPUs and networking so that some computation is done directly on networking devices and then moved to the GPUs, making it much more efficient and less power-consuming. The expert says that when you use both $NVDA GPUs and networking, you get a 20-25% computation time improvement vs. only using GPUs.
5. Because $NVDA has both GPUs and networking with Mellanox, this has also increased their margins significantly. Clients prefer buying both GPUs and networking together.
6. In his view, the way to compete with $NVDA is to target inference workloads like Grok is doing. He also thinks $AMD has demand right now because $NVDA doesn't have enough supply.
7. He thinks we will gradually move to 90% of the consumption around inference compared to training.
