HOW TO FIND THE BEST HACKATHONS IN 2026 👀
the last post got 240+ bookmarks, and many of you asked where to find the best hackathons.
i’m sharing the platforms i personally use to find them.
General Hackathons
Devpost: devpost.com/hackathons
Unstop: unstop.com
MLH: mlh.io
HackerEarth: hackerearth.com/challenges/
Web3 Hackathons
ETHGlobal: ethglobal.com
DoraHacks: dorahacks.io
Devfolio: devfolio.co
Colosseum: colosseum.org
Superteam Earn: earn.superteam.fun
AI & data Hackathons
Kaggle: kaggle.com/competitions
lablab AI: lablab.ai
find opportunities before they get crowded
some keywords i would prefer:
upcoming AI hackathons 2026
Web3 hackathons with prizes
Solana and Ethereum hackathons
AI agent hackathons
online hackathons for students
try to research previous winners
look at their projects, demos and GitHub repos.
understand what made them stand out, what the judges valued and what you can learn from their execution.
try to pick hackathons strategically
don’t join every event you find.
choose ones that match your skills, give you enough time to build and offer something valuable beyond prize money !
bookmark this and share it with someone who’s looking for their next opportunity.

STOP BUILDING PORTFOLIOS THAT LOOKS LIKE BORING 😳
your portfolio should make someone stop scrolling before they even read your resume.
I found 5 websites worth studying if you want to vibe-code a premium portfolio, take this as reference !
bruno simon → bruno-simon.com/
the portfolio IS the experience.
3D, physics, interaction and exploration.
what you should do is, make your website demonstrate your skills instead of just talking about them.
cassie evans → cassie.codes/
motion is the entire pitch.
her site uses animation and interaction as the main visual language.
if motion is your skill, make the homepage prove it.
jhey tompkins → jhey.dev/
playful UI experiments instead of a boring project grid.
turn your experiments into proof of what you can actually build.
brittany chiang → brittanychiang.com/
minimal. dark. structured.
projects, experience and skills are presented without unnecessary visual noise.
you don’t need 50 animations to make a portfolio feel premium.
active theory → activetheory.net/
this is the extreme version.
full-screen visuals, motion and immersive digital experiences.
treat your portfolio like a creative studio website, not an online CV.
NOW VIBE-CODE YOUR OWN.
don’t prompt:
build me a premium portfolio.
that’s how you get the same AI-generated website everyone else has.
instead:
pick one reference
study the layout
identify the interactions
give the reference to your AI coding tool rebuild the concept around YOUR work.
then keep iterating until the AI slop disappears.
your portfolio shouldn’t tell people you are good.
it should be the proof.
save these 5 references before you build your next portfolio 🫡❤️

BITGET GOT HACKED AROUND $351.6M FROM ITS WALLET 😳
and this is why i think about custody differently for long-term funds.
to be fair, Bitget says this wasn’t a simple private key theft. attackers compromised a wallet backend and spoofed transaction data. Bitget says its cold wallets and user funds were not affected, and it plans to cover the loss through its protection fund.
but there’s still a lesson here.
when you keep your long-term funds on a CEX, you are trusting the exchange to secure the entire system around your assets.
wallet infrastructure, backend systems, permissions, withdrawal controls, internal security and the people operating them.
for trading, i’m fine with using a CEX.
for funds i plan to hold for years, i personally prefer self-custody.
one setup i like for this is a Safe multisig.
say you create a 3-of-4 Safe.
4 separate owner wallets.
3 signatures are required before a transaction can execute.
so if one key gets compromised, that key alone cannot move the funds. Safe’s threshold system is specifically designed around this type of multi-owner approval.
but this is important:
SELF-CUSTODY DOESN’T MEAN ZERO RISK.
neither is risk-free.
but if i’m holding long-term funds, i’d rather build a setup where one compromised key, device or account isn’t enough to drain everything.
have a safe day ❤️
