There is a difference between feeling productive and being productive in Economy revision.
With 8 hours a day, Gaurav ends up bingeing 10-hour marathon lectures on 1.5x speed that leave zero recall 3 days later.
For the exact same 8 hours, Raghav builds bulletproof high-yield strategy.
4 steps to bulletproof your Economy prep:👇
1. Lock Recall Time
Hours mean nothing if you dont keep 30 min slot for Recall.
2. Pause The Video
Stop watching passively like Netflix. Hit pause every 20 minutes and write what you just learned on blank paper.
3. Study Your Mistakes
Solving 50 test papers is useless if you don't check errors.
4. Don't skip The Budget
Focus on broad trends like 5-year macro trajectories, capital expenditure shifts, and new scheme allocations.

Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye have signed a joint defence agreement.
The agreement was signed in Makkah (Mecca).
What does it actually provide for? 👇
1. Who are the members?
Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye.
2. What is its key provision?
An armed attack against any one of the three countries will be regarded as an attack against all three.
3. What does it cover?
Defence cooperation, including joint training, military coordination and cooperation in defence technology.
4. Is it NATO?
No. Its mutual-defence provision resembles NATO's Article 5, but it is a separate regional agreement.
What should UPSC aspirants revise?
• UN Charter, Article 51: Right to individual and collective self-defence.
• NATO Article 5: Principle of collective defence.
• West Asian Geopolitics: Saudi Arabia's regional security interests and Türkiye's growing role.
• Pakistan's Foreign Relations: Its defence and strategic partnerships.
• India's Interests: Gulf security, energy imports, diaspora and regional stability.
The agreement reflects how regional security partnerships are evolving beyond traditional alliances.
Today is 'International Day for Biosphere Reserves'.
Do you know how many biosphere reserves are there in India?
Energy is the currency of the future, but is India keeping up with the pace?
YES, here's the exam relevant numbers to enhance your answers:
• 6007% Surge: Solar capacity jumped from just 2.8 GW in 2014 to 171 GW today.
• Reducing Costs: Solar power cost reduced from ₹8/unit in 2014-15 down to ₹2.15/unit now.
• India is the ONLY G20 country to hit its 2030 target of 50% non-fossil capacity 5 years early.
• On the Ground: Over 21 lakh homes now receive a zero electricity bill under the PM Surya Ghar scheme.
• The Next Target: Achieving 500 GW of installed non-fossil power capacity by 2030.

India has achieved ONE of the fastest reductions in poverty globally.
496 million people lifted, MORE than the entire population of the European Union.
Yet, the progress came with three catches.
Here is how India's economy transformed in 10 years👇
The scale of that job growth was massive:
Between 2017 and 2023, India added ~134 million jobs, nearly 𝘁𝘄𝗶𝗰𝗲 the growth rate of the working-age population.
The real engine?
𝗥𝗨𝗥𝗔𝗟 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 entering paid work.
That brings us to 3 catches:
1.Regional Concentration:
A belt from Uttar Pradesh to West Bengal accounts for 57% of India’s entire poor population.
Macro growth alone cannot bridge this without targeted regional interventions
2. Wage Inequality: Median earnings of the top 10% were ~13x higher than the bottom 10% in 2023.
3. Youth Unemployment: Rose from 14.6% to 15.9% (Q1 FY26 to Q1 FY27), hitting young rural women hardest.
India has mastered Extreme Poverty Reduction, but the next challenge is structural.
India and New Zealand have entered into a Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
The agreement aims to boost bilateral trade, improve market access and encourage investment.
Let's revise some important concepts for UPSC👇
1. What is an FTA?
An agreement between countries to reduce or remove trade barriers, especially customs duties.
2. Benefits for India
• Better market access for Indian exports.
• Opportunities for textiles, leather, footwear, pharmaceuticals and engineering goods.
• Greater access for Indian service providers.
• New investment opportunities.
3. What has India protected?
Sensitive sectors such as dairy, sugar and certain agricultural products have been kept outside tariff concessions to protect domestic producers.
4. What are Rules of Origin?
Rules used to determine where a product was made. They ensure that only eligible goods receive FTA benefits.
5. FTA vs CEPA
An FTA mainly focuses on reducing trade barriers. A CEPA has a wider scope and can cover trade in goods, services, investment and economic cooperation.
An FTA is not just about lower import duties. It is also about market access, export opportunities and stronger economic ties.
