L’ultima stoccata di Flávio Bolsonaro a poche ore dal ballottaggio presidenziale brasiliano è una battuta così greve che rischia di costargli il trono. Un passo falso clamoroso commesso durante il confronto decisivo in televisione che ha chiuso la campagna elettorale: mentre discutevano di salari, tasse e trasporti pubblici gratuiti nei fine settimana in diretta su TV Globo, Bolsonaro ha accusato Lula di dare soldi ai cittadini per poi riprenderseli attraverso le imposte, ma lo ha fatto sfottendolo su una menomazione fisica: “Dai con una mano e togli con le nove dita”, ha detto suscitando le risate dei suoi sostenitori in studio. Quel dito mancante, il mignolo della mano sinistra, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva lo perse nel 1964 in un incidente sul lavoro: aveva 17 anni e faceva l’operaio metalmeccanico in una fabbrica di San Paolo. “Se c'è qualcuno qui che sa che cosa significa lavorare, quello sono io”, ha risposto il presidente.

رحل أمس الفيزيائي الفرنسي (من أصول جزائرية-مغربية) كلود كوهين-تانوجي عن 93 سنة.
كثير من طلاب الفيزياء يعرفونه من كتاب ميكانيكا الكم الشهير (Cohen-Tannoudji, Diu, Laloë)، والذي يُعتبر من أهم المراجع في المجال. لكن بالنسبة لنا اللي نشتغل في الذرات الباردة، الرجل أكبر بكثير من كتاب.
ففي عام 1997 أخذ نوبل الفيزياء مع ستيفن تشو وويليام فيليبس، على تطوير طرق تبريد الذرات واصطيادها بالليزر.
ماهو التبريد بالليزر؟ عادةً نربط الليزر بالحرارة، لكن لو ضُبط تردده، يعمل وكأنه "فرامل" للذرات تكبح حركتها؛ وتوصل لجزء من مليون درجة فوق الصفر المطلق.
والقصة الحلوة هنا: تجارب الثمانينات طلّعت درجات حرارة أبرد من الحد اللي كانت النظرية تسمح فيه وقتها (حد دوبلر). فجاء كوهين-تانوجي مع جان داليبار وفسّروا اللغز بآلية سمّوها "تبريد سيزيف": الذرة تطلع تل طاقة، وكل ما وصلت القمة تخسر طاقتها وترجع من تحت، مثل سيزيف في الأسطورة اللي يدحرج الصخرة للأبد. وبعدها مجموعته في باريس راحت أبعد ونزلت حتى تحت حد الارتداد الفوتوني نفسه.
ليش هذا يهمنا؟ لأن هذا الشغل هو الأساس اللي قامت عليه أدق الساعات الذرية في العالم، ومكثفات بوز-آينشتاين، ومقاييس الجاذبية بالتداخل الذري، وكثير من حواسيب الكم اللي تشتغل على ذرات متعادلة. يعني كل معمل ذرات باردة اليوم، فيه بصمة منه.
وما كان عالِم بس، كان معلّم. من مدرسته طلع سيرج حاروش (نوبل 2012)، واشتغل معه آلان أسبيه (نوبل 2022)، وجان داليبار، وكريستوف سالومون.
قامة علمية عملاقة رحل وترك إرث سيعيش بعده أجيال.

Since 2016:
🔹 Around 3.8m Leave voters have died, against 2.1m Remain voters.
🔹 Around 7m new voters have reached voting age, overwhelmingly pro-European.
🔹 Around 5m voters have changed their minds 👉roughly three-quarters of them moving from Leave to Rejoin.
His estimate of how Britain would vote now:
🇪🇺 REJOIN: 20.0m 👉 63%
🇬🇧 STAY OUT: 11.8m 👉 37%
A majority of almost 9 million.
Brexit happened. Britain has lived with it for a decade.
But democracy does not freeze the electorate in 2016 forever.
The question is what Britain wants now not what it indicated in 2016.
