From 1 January 2027, new rules are scheduled to apply to WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal and other messaging apps in India.
🟢 What does SIM binding mean?
Your WhatsApp number is linked to your mobile SIM card. Under the new rule, the app may need to check that the SIM linked to your number is present in your phone.
What does this mean for you?
✅ Keep the SIM card linked to your WhatsApp number in your phone.
⚠️ If you remove that SIM card or use the app without it, you may face restrictions under the new rules.
