when i was invited to a meet-up where all my japanese friends were in a room together with me, i asked them if they knew who sonic was, since i heard how unpopular he apparently was in japan. literally each and every one of them either said "no" or "isn't that the guy from smash"

Can a Japanese person actually answer this, is Sonic really as unpopular in his home country as people say or is this greatly exaggerated

The infamous "WET YOURSELF..." Super Mario Sunshine print ad is often posted online without context, leading many to believe it is fake or fan-made. However, it is very much real, appearing on page 130 of issue 119 of the British Nintendo Official Magazine.

the 4kids dub voice actor for dedede is iconic in and of itself but when i learned he's also the same voice actor for escargoon as well catapulted him into truly legendary status for me.

In the Mario Teaches Typing games, Mario never criticizes the player for underperforming and tries to be understanding and supportive. According to Charles Martinet, that was his initiative, as he felt being negative would go against the core principles of Mario's character.

In pokemon GSC, Red's mother mentions that she hasn't seen her son in a long time. However, he has a N64, compared to in RBY, where he has a (S)NES. This means that Red came back for the sole reason of playing some hot new video games
