Just thinking about all the pundits hating on Indiana after losing to ND in the CFP. Well, after 2 full years, that game isn’t even in the top half of blowouts. And the cherry on top is the top two spots on this list. 🤣🤣 #iufb

This one goes out to all the SEC Chanting igmos like @UncleLouCFB who commented on this post talking about Tv RaTiNgS. Northwestern-IU (FOX): 3.9M S Car-Bama (ESPN): 2.9M
Alabama vs South Carolina: “Must-watch SEC football.” Indiana vs Northwestern: “Boring.” Funny what happens when you replace conference logos with actual numbers. One of these games is actually worth watching.

It really didn't become as big a deal until after the SEC poached the Big 12 and started realignment. The SEC went and took the Big 12's marquee football program Oklahoma, as well as the other big brand Texas and adds it to an already top heavy conference then whines because it's schedules are so tough. No one held a gun to their head for them to poach those schools or any of the others they've poached over the years. And spare me how "tough" the SEC is. Tx A&M was a 6-7 win program in the Big 12 most of it's existence, but goes from 6-6 to winning 8-10 games in the SEC right off the bat. Texas was losing 3-7 games during its last 15 years in the Big 12 but suddenly is a juggernaut in the SEC. Missouri was largely a Big 12 doormat but they've actually won their division a few times in the SEC. And the recruiting ratings show very little difference in recruiting success for Missouri and Texas before/after moving. A&M actually showed some recruiting improvement, but it wasn't until it's 2nd year in the SEC after it had already jumped from 6 Big 12 wins to 9 SEC wins in year one. That doesn't mean the SEC isn't a great league -- it is. But it does indicate the Big 12 wasn't quite as easy as the SEC likes to make it out to be -- and it's more difficult now with Utah, BYU, the Arizona schools, and Tx Tech's rise than it was those last few years with TX/OK. It shouldn't matter anyway -- you don't see the NFC West getting twice as many playoff bids because some committee subjectively decides it's better than the AFC South. The NFL is objective and is the antithesis of the college football subjective popularity contest for CFP bids.
I really wish more people would have talked about this about five or six years ago instead of after realignment

At the start of the 2025 season the AP had 10 teams from the SEC ranked in the top 25. The Big Ten had 6. The SEC went 2-8 against other conferences in the postseason last year. The B1G went 10-4. The final AP ranking had 7 SEC schools and the Big Ten had 6. Once again, the AP had 9 SEC schools ranked in the top 25 at the start of this season. The SOS is artificially propped up by these preseason rankings.

When the Kansas City Chiefs invited Kahlil Benson to rookie minicamp this spring, they weren't planning on him making the team. They needed bodies. Someone to fill out drills alongside 75-plus other hopefuls. The Chiefs' own player personnel staff basically admitted it, they called his agent mostly to add a practice body, and give the kid a brief chance to prove he belonged. "There's certainly, in this case, probably some luck involved," the team's assistant GM said. Benson had reason to be overlooked. He'd started at right tackle for Indiana's historic national championship team in 2025, but he went undrafted, all seven rounds, nobody called. Even in the national title game itself, he'd graded out as the lowest-rated blocker on his own offense. Scouts saw the size, 6-foot-6 and 319 pounds, but called his tape inconsistent. So he arrived in Kansas City as an afterthought, on a contract with zero guaranteed money, buried on a 90-man roster that didn't even seem to need another tackle. Then he just kept winning. He impressed the coaches enough to earn a real contract. Then he climbed the depth chart. Then he won a starting job outright. And when the Chiefs' first-round left tackle went down with a back injury before Week 1, Andy Reid made a stunning call: he'd start the undrafted rookie at left tackle. Not just any game. Patrick Mahomes' first game back from a torn ACL, on Monday Night Football, protecting his blind side, against the Denver Broncos, one of the most fearsome pass rushes in football, a defense that led the NFL in sacks each of the last two seasons. It was, on paper, a setup for disaster. Benson had barely even played left tackle before. He was terrific. Benson didn't allow a single pressure in the entire first half against that Denver pass rush, and finished the night having given up just one, on 32 pass-blocking snaps. Per Next Gen Stats, he allowed the fewest pressures of any rookie offensive tackle in Week 1, including three first-round picks. Mahomes stayed clean. The Chiefs won. Andy Reid does not take risks like that lightly. He'd never had reason to before. The kid who showed up as a practice body just protected the most important player in football, and didn't flinch.
