October 2019, one of the last happy, healthy times we had together. Larry has been gone 4 years. April 1st, 2020
As of Wednesday evening, still need $366 toward Farrier visit today for 10 horses. I sponsored Tyler for $60 but still have 6 in need. Can you give Margaret a hand with caring for her herd of retired racehorses?
Run Jennie Run (isn’t she cute?) needs her feet done tomorrow and we are still $366 away from goal for the farrier for her and her buddies.
I can’t put it off any longer, they are way overdue and baby Tyler really needs his feet done.
We also need feed, but the farrier will be here at 8:30 and I would like to get everyone on this month’s list done. I guess I’ll tackle the feed issue tomorrow.
I hate making these “choices” for the most basic care especially with all of the money on display at the Fasig-Tipton sale and for Breeders’ Cup pre-entries.
I know, I know, these horses aren’t needed anymore, they did their share and now they can’t make anyone money so they don’t matter…
They matter to me.
And they matter to a whole lot of you, thank God. But not to the people who really can make a positive difference in their lives.
Anyway… will you help me get to goal for trims in the morning?

Karate, a Leader Ewe in Iceland was just one of the sheep that could predict bad weather. Interesting story.
In the north of Iceland a farmer once walked out to his sheep house on a clear evening, found that one ewe had come in off the hill on her own and would not be moved, and went back inside and told his family to prepare for a storm.
Her name was Kraga. She was a leader ewe, one of the strain of Icelandic sheep bred for a thousand years to walk at the front and read the sky, and the farmer's account of her survives in the book of leader-sheep stories a sheep breeder collected in the 1950s because the old men who remembered them were dying.
The flock was out on the winter grazing, as flocks were then, and the evening gave no sign of anything. Kraga had left them and come home. She stood in the sheep house and refused the open door. The farmer had learned what that meant and did not argue. The next morning he woke to the roar of the sea and a blizzard that had come in off the Arctic in the night, the kind that killed sheep by the hundred on the open hill and men with them. His flock was in the barn, because he had gone out and fetched them in on the word of a ewe.
The pattern turns up in story after story. The leader that will not go out on a fine morning. The leader that comes in from the hill at noon with no apparent reason and stands by the door. The farmers did not understand how the animal knew, and did not need to. They wrote down the date, the weather that came, and the name of the sheep, and bred from her.
A few years ago Norwegian scientists ran a proper test. Flocks with a leader sheep in them, faced with a mock predator, behaved differently from flocks without one: calmer, more cohesive, less likely to scatter and die. The animal the farmers had been describing for ten centuries turned out to exist on a spreadsheet.
A ewe knew the weather before the barometer did, and a hungry country bet its winter on her and won.
The sheep is the animal this country uses as a byword for stupidity. In Iceland they let one decide when the flock went out.

Whether or not it is free speech is irrelevant: fact is, most of the stories published about the iDJT Trump are negative because the truth about him is abysmal.

It will soon be Christmas and I will have this magnificent Deer display to drive by. It was great in the daylight but even better with the lights at night.
Everybody gets a feed dish and then it’s ‘let’s see what you have over there?’ Donations toward Feed and $60 Sponsors for Farrier needed tomorrow.
Everyone raids everyone’s else’s feed tubs after dinner until Paz and Hirsch head over for their daily feed tub battle… sigh…
We need to raise $483 before tomorrow morning at 8:30 for the farrier. We also need feed, a pallet is $850 (discounted too).
It’s really hard to get too pumped up about Breeders’ Cup pre-entries and all the money on display today when I can’t feed its castoffs.
The good thing is they don’t know, they just know *I* love them…
Will you help me?

More info on the US blocking the transfer of Patriots that are in Europe and paid for by Europeans. Do I need to post the picture of the dead children, in strollers, from last week?
🇺🇸🇺🇦 THE UNITED STATES HAS BLOCKED EUROPE FROM TRANSFERRING PATRIOT MISSILES TO UKRAINE. EVEN THOSE ALREADY PAID FOR. EVEN THOSE EUROPE PROMISED YESTERDAY.
Trump has not merely stopped American weapons deliveries, even when Ukraine and Europe are willing to pay. His administration has reportedly blocked European countries from transferring their own Patriot interceptors to Ukraine. Because these missiles are manufactured in the United States, their transfer to a third country requires Washington's approval.
On Friday, October 16, following discussions with European leaders, President Volodymyr Zelensky stood in Brussels and explained that Europe possessed enough PAC-2 and PAC-3 missiles to help Ukraine survive the winter. “All the leaders have this package,” he said. Ukraine was asking for the minimum necessary to survive another winter of Russian attacks. European leaders agreed to help.
But on Monday, October 19, The Washington Post reportedly revealed that the Trump administration had not authorized the transfer. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth had not signed the necessary approval.
Understand what this means. We are not talking about new American missiles taken from Pentagon warehouses. We are talking about interceptors that Greece, Spain, and other European countries were reportedly prepared to release from their own military stockpiles. Weapons already purchased and paid for, waiting to be delivered.
Why can't Europe simply hand them over? Because Patriot is an American weapons system, manufactured by companies including RTX and Lockheed Martin. Under American export regulations, transferring these weapons to another country generally requires Washington's authorization. This rule has always existed. But now, according to these reports, it is being used as a stranglehold.
Ukraine has a critically limited supply of operational interceptors, and Trump knows it. A source in Kyiv reportedly told The Washington Post that even before the latest restrictions, monthly deliveries had fallen to just 12 missiles, approximately one-quarter of their previous volume.
Meanwhile, Trump continues publicly humiliating Ukraine. “Maybe it's time for Zelensky to find somebody else to negotiate with,” he reportedly told journalists on Monday. Zelensky has become an obstacle for both Trump and Putin because he refuses to surrender his country's future.
Some Western and even Ukrainian politicians are now suggesting that Zelensky should be more accommodating toward Trump, avoid upsetting Washington, and hope that weapons deliveries resume. This is astonishingly naive. Anyone who has experienced real intimidation understands that appeasing a bully does not necessarily make him stop. A gangster interprets concessions as weakness and immediately demands more.
That is why Zelensky's firm response matters. Ukraine is an independent nation, not a helpless subordinate begging for permission to exist. Its president has every right to defend its sovereignty and dignity rather than submit to political intimidation.
Hegseth does not sign the authorization. Trump suggests Ukraine needs another president. European-owned missile interceptors remain unable to move without American approval.
And meanwhile, Russia continues killing Ukrainian civilians, including children. Putin deliberately attacks power substations and energy infrastructure as winter approaches, attempting to make entire cities uninhabitable. Without electricity, heating, or running water, hundreds of thousands of people could face life-threatening conditions.
These missiles are not political bargaining chips. They are the difference between intercepting a Russian ballistic missile and watching another Ukrainian apartment building collapse with families inside.
Europe is prepared to help. Ukraine desperately needs that help. And Washington's refusal to authorize these transfers,if confirmed, would carry consequences measured not merely in diplomatic disagreements, but in human lives.

Pals!
We truly thought this boy would be paralyzed based on the extent of his injuries on X-ray.
The fact that he is walking, navigating stairs & his pain is controlled is a testament to his spirit, vet teams, a bit of a miracle & love.
Thank you to everyone who donated for his continued physical therapy & rehabilitation & to Tine @TheHerdHouse for her cross country journey & willingness to take him under her wing ♥️!
You will be AMAZED at all the choices.

Trump is STILL talking about his test, but as usual, he can’t pronounce it properly. I sat through many of these with my Father-in-Law, it’s not that big of a deal.

10 Horses need Farrier trims this week, at $60 each. I Sponsored 4 month old Tyler, so now just need 9. Anyone else want to Sponsor? 🐴

The Ransom girls…
I took a little social media break… my sister came to town from Alabama for a few days on her way to France for the birth of her first grandchild. We are close, but we don’t see each other a ton so it was nice to just spend time with her without being on here begging.
The need stayed the same, but I wanted to prioritize hanging out with my sister. And we had a nice weekend.
It’s funny, though, I don’t think she had any idea as to how busy we are here at the farm. She had to entertain herself when we fed in the mornings and afternoons (I wouldn’t let her help, she is on vacation) but I’d catch her up on the back porch or in the slider window watching us busy about.
She’s an animal person, too (mostly dogs) and I think now understands better why I do this. And she thinks Tyler is the most handsome baby. I mean, he is of course, but she loves him…
The weather has significantly improved. We were super cool over the weekend and we will warm up this week into the mid-80s, but the mornings are absolutely beautiful and everyone is so very happy for the cooldown. They are moving and roaming more and they are playful with each other.
Over the weekend we received $335 in donations, leaving us just $225 from the month’s hay goal. Thank you Sarah, Tanya, Laura, Michelle and an anonymous donor, too, for getting us so close.
The farrier will be here Thursday for ten trims at $60 each, including baby Tyler, so if you’d like to sponsor him (or any of the nine others) we’d be so grateful.
We still need to buy a pallet of feed for $850 (covers a month), I’ve been piecing it together and buying a couple bags here and there to get us by. I hate doing that…
Anyway, if you’d like to help we’d be grateful…
