Theo Brown was a very eminent member of @devonassoc , instrumental in founding our folklore section and a contributor of 9 papers for our #Transactions . You can read her obit at devonassoc.org.uk/person/bro…
Today's #ExploreYourArchive theme is #Labels! We label boxes with reference numbers so we can find items easily & quickly. Sometimes an archive contains its own labels, like this cabinet of index cards in folklorist Theo Brown's archive, which gives insight into how she worked.

In 1810 John Cranch, a naturalist from Kingsbridge, paid 3 pounds to purchase a specimen of a “Cliefden nonpareil moth” from a collector in London. How he would have loved to have found one in Devon! They are lovely creatures.
And another one ..... my third Clifden Nonpareil of the autumn .... think we can assume it is a resident now in Exeter .....

Did you know that around one thousand of the grave stones in the churchyard have been photographed and transcribed? You can search on The Box Plymouth's Archives Catalogue for them by entering your ancestor's name and the word image at web.plymouth.gov.uk/archives… #PHF2020 #Plymouth

Delighted today to spot a photo of the Pinwell sisters while looking up an old @thevicsoc journal (2011)! Hope it's OK to share! @NellytheWillow Such a good article too, "Women & Church Art" by Lynne Walker. Sadly, it seems to be out-of-print now.

Congratulations for getting the DD Historian out to @devonfhs members in the current climate. Interesting content as always.
Thanks to a sterling effort by Sally, our Editor and by the printers, the MAY Devon Family Historian has been posted and is hitting the mats in the UK today. The digital version is also online in the Members' Area. Thanks to all. Keep well and stay safe.
The cover looks great to me. So looking forward to reading the book. #Pinwills
