Watching CANDYMAN for the first time in a while. Felt like Bernard Rose was destined for great things in the mid 90s, but here we are. Incredible picture, always was. Every performance from the smallest supporting role to Madsen is spot on.
Watching the modern masterpiece HALLOWEEN ENDS. I think Andi Matichak was a great find, a terrific final girl. A huge shame she’s not made anything substantial since. The curse of Corey never ends.
Hotel Rats and Photostats. Incredible bit of nightmare music. Page should’ve scored more pictures.
(Pierce Brosnan voice) Classic track, classic movie!
Early evening screening of this was busier than I’ve ever seen my local cinema. Not bad for a film the rest of the world will think is ‘one of those fake British movies’.
Ladies and gentlemen, please join me in commemorating the victims and the survivors of Michael Myers.

It’s nearly Halloween, and to celebrate we’re giving away Blu-rays of 1978 classic The Shout and Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein. Both are available now from the Criterion Collection. RT this, we’ll pick three winners on 3 November. #Criterion @amazonuk @hmvtweets
I do not enjoy this movie like so many of you do but this first point is one of the most insane subplots of all time and nobody else mentions it so thank you, Jarvis. I thought I was going insane.
Things I love about Tombstone:
- Kurt Russell leaving his boring wife for some rando skank and this is presented as heroic
- It came out in 1993 but Sam Elliott looks exactly the same as he does now
- Everything Val Kilmer does
- Everything Billy Zane does
- The opening scene where the bad guys come into town and shoot everyone at a wedding. I stood up and CHEERED. You could have ended the movie right there and I would have been happy.
- How Earp’s lunatic Revenge Tour of Murder was pretty much real and the cops had to be like hey … you’re not actually allowed to do that.
