The shilling has depreciated drastically, and shipping costs have nearly doubled over the last few months. Meanwhile, the few Chinese traders I have spoken to tell me they have stopped importing for the time being... It is trickling down to all of us. My hinges are more expensive. My fuel is more expensive. My fabric is more expensive but the gap between an imported sofa from China and a locally made option from @modernliving256 has widened to unprecedented levels. That's great... The market will adjust but we need to capture this opportunity! What the government does now will determine whether this becomes a real window of opportunity to displace imports and turn our local manufacturers into national champions... As a start, let's put the @modernliving256, the Hers Uganda, the @Oscarkampala, the @VInteriorsLtd1 and others forward! They are the key to this $ 500bn economy! @kasujja @rggoobi
