1/4 #ESMO26 GU preview: a few studies I’ll be watching next week, starting with #ProstateCancer. 👇 🔵 #DASLHiCaP — LBA4 - Darolutamide + ADT + definitive/salvage RT in very-high-risk localized prostate cancer. - Can this provide another intensification option with RT? Particularly interested in the salvage population, absolute benefit, and tolerability. 🔵 #PROTEUS substudy — LBA53 - Perioperative apalutamide + ADT + prostatectomy vs surgery alone. - A better comparison IMO beyond the parent trial’s ADT control. Looking for durable outcomes and whether systemic treatment reduces subsequent salvage therapy. Also watching #CAPItello281 updated OS and mature #PEACE1 survival. @myESMO @OncoAlert @oncodaily @OncoDailyGU @urotoday @GUOncologyNow

3/4 #KidneyCancer at #ESMO26 🟠 #LITESPARK011 — 3587O, 3595RO - Belzutifan + lenvatinib improved PFS vs cabo after IO (14.8 vs 10.7 mo; HR 0.70), leading to September FDA approval. Final OS not significant (HR 0.85). - ESMO adds detailed final and QoL analyses. Looking at prior-treatment subgroups and how benefit balances anemia/hypoxia and TKI toxicity. 🟣 #LITESPARK012 — 3586O - Adding belzutifan to frontline pembro/len missed PFS/OS endpoints. Full results should clarify efficacy and treatment delivery. - Better disease control after IO, but unsuccessful frontline intensification. Where does HIF-2α inhibition add the most value? Also watching #PAPMET2 in papillary RCC. @myESMO @OncoAlert @oncodaily @OncoDailyGU @urotoday @GUOncologyNow

4/4 Lastly, a personal connection at #ESMO26 in #ProstateCancer. 🧬 #JNJ6143, formerly #HLD0915 — 2216O - Updated data for a novel treatment mechanism with an oral AR-targeted #RIPTAC in mAPMR (mCRPC), including patients with high-risk molecular features. - Looking forward to presentation by @BGarmezy with data on durable activity and tolerability at the selected dose in ARPI-resistant, heavily pretreated disease. Glad to contribute to this phase I/II work as a co-author and site PI at Duke. @DukeCancer @OncHahn @AarmstrongDuke @myESMO @OncoAlert @oncodaily @OncoDailyGU @urotoday @GUOncologyNow @DukeGUCancer

Enjoyed joining our @DukeGUCancer team at the @DukeCancer GU Community Education Event to discuss advances in #ProstateCancer care with experts in urology, medical oncology, and radiation oncology, now featured in our Duke #GUrus Fall 2026 newsletter. Our patient-centered discussion focused on personalized prostate cancer management in the modern era: using biomarkers, genetics, imaging and patient goals to individualize treatment. For patients, understanding their options (which are often many!) boosts confidence in the treatment plan and their team. Our work expanding early-phase clinical trial access at @DukeRaleigh Cancer Center is also highlighted. Summary: connect.dhdaa.duke.edu/Prost… Audio: vimeo.com/1231363224?share=c…

Great to join today's closing session of #VIRO2026 and discuss case-based decision-making in #RCC. We covered 3 cases requiring nuranced systemic therapy decision-making: ➡️Adjuvant therapy for high-risk localized ccRCC in light of LITESPARK-022 ➡️Aggressive, symptomatic metastatic ccRCC with bone involvement ➡️ High volume, asymptomatic metastatic nodal ccRCC with sarcomatoid histology Thanks @oncodaily and @OncoDailyGU for the chance to contribute alongside an excellent group of speakers.
📌 VIRO 2026 – Global Voices in Renal Oncology | Closing Session The closing session of VIRO 2026 – Global Voices in Renal Oncology brought the meeting to a strong conclusion with a practical and forward-looking discussion on the evolving management of renal cell carcinoma, spanning complex surgical presentations, high-risk disease, molecular testing, social determinants of care, and frontline treatment strategies. Daniel V. Araujo opened the session with a practical discussion on treating clear cell RCC with vena cava thrombus, addressing the complexities of managing this challenging clinical presentation. Dillon Cockrell explored case-based decision-making in RCC, focusing on treatment approaches for high-risk localized disease and first-line metastatic RCC. The session then turned to emerging biomarkers, with Arnab Basu examining the current evidence and future directions for ctDNA in RCC. Samuel L. Washington III highlighted the social factors influencing the management of small renal masses, bringing attention to the broader factors that shape clinical decision-making and patient care. Finally, Fernando Maciel Barbosa, MD discussed frontline RCC treatment in 2026, comparing IO/TKI combinations, dual IO approaches, and emerging triplet strategies as the treatment landscape continues to evolve. Together, the session highlighted the complexity of modern renal oncology and the importance of integrating clinical expertise, molecular insights, patient-level factors, and emerging therapeutic strategies to advance personalized RCC care. @DVAraujoMD @DCockrellMD @arnabguonc 🔴 Live sessions available here: lnkd.in/dG52MQc6 🔗 Learn more about VIRO 2026 – Global Voices in Renal Oncology: lnkd.in/dMVRg_qf
