Clinical experience is evidence 👇 Anyone who has worked with patients long enough knows there are clinical intuitions that only develop through practice; through face to face patient care. All of the research in the world can’t capture it. It only arises through patient contact. And yet, in MSK care especially, young clinicians are fed the illusion that ‘research’ - much of it terrible - is the holy grail of evidence based care. But when they see a patient in the wild they fall apart. Not because of an innate lack of ability, but because they’ve been let down by a system that is increasingly managing patients by protocol. The experience of seeing thousands of patients and following their trajectories is evidence. Just not the type non-clinical academics like to discuss.
