Absolutely agreed. Very misleading. We have published from the @LaheyHospital lung cancer screening program a 0.95% invasive procedure (Dx or Tx) rate in patients without cancer with 0.36% grade III or higher complication rate. Lung Cancer Screening is SAFE!

A new report once again focuses on the "complications" of lung cancer screening. In total, they found the rate of major complications for people WITHOUT lung cancer = 0.07%. So, why didn't the authors highlight this statistic in the conclusion? 1/🧵 acpjournals.org/doi/epdf/10.…

Agree. It is incredibly misleading to include complications related to the treatment of cancer as “screen related complications”. sciencedirect.com/science/ar…

Deactivate my personal 'twitter.' Gonna give this until the new year.

No better feeling than running a super complicated case by a senior partner, having them agree with you AND confirm your suspicion that it’s not actually your problem.

Active have a mnemonic or framework for short, end of day feedback to trainees? I find it easy to be expansive with feedback, but when everyone wants to go home, brevity counts. a system would help build the habit. #MedTwitter #MedEd

I do a 'chest tube' talk for new critical care APPs. Looking to add new content. For those who don't frequently use chest tubes, what questions would you have? For those very familiar, what do you wish people knew? #MedTwitter #meded #FOAMed @tssmn @ctsnetorg #ChesTube

Hey, congratulations to everyone finishing training or starting residency this week (or last/or next). Also, good on ya if you're just making it happen on a Tuesday as a PGY14+. #MedEd

We should banish this #stigma with extreme prejudice. Many with #lungcancer have never smoked. But even those who may have smoked don’t deserve to have this horrible #cancer …& they are also no less deserving of our compassion & best efforts to treat them @CancerCareMB #lcsm
15%-20% of lung cancer patients have never smoked. So why do we assume that lung cancer is a smoker's disease? buff.ly/3A1ys5p

Cardiac vs thoracic surgery. Anticipate more expletives in the absence of bypass.

Did some very minor electrical work today. Now I’m sure my house will burn down.

I have a serious recommendation to decrease burnout: portable EPIC training. I am now completing my 7th round of EPIC training. I will not be accepting any comments at this time about how "EPIC is configured differently at each hospital, so you need this." No.

Residents are telling me they're still being taught old billing rules. Reminder, since Jan 1, 2023: 🔶 HPI has no strict billing requirements. It simply needs to exist 🔶 Same for physical exam 🔶 ROS is no longer required 🔶 PMH, FH, SH are no longer required Also a reminder:

Retrospective report @ClinicalLung from the VA system showing better outcomes with surgery than CRT for pts with stage I #SCLC. But major of selection bias to even consider surgery. And need to know how many recurred shortly after surgery and went to CRT? clinical-lung-cancer.com/art…
