‼️ 18-YEAR-OLD GIRL FALLS TO HER DEATH FROM CARNIVAL RIDE IN MEXICO; HORRIFYING MOMENT CAUGHT ON VIDEO
CABO SAN LUCAS, MEXICO — What was supposed to be a fun night celebrating at a local festival turned into a horrifying tragedy when an 18-year-old girl was thrown from a spinning carnival ride, suffering fatal injuries.
Gabriela Rodríguez Tezoco died after falling from an amusement ride known as “The Pendulum” during the traditional Cabo San Lucas festivities in Baja California Sur, Mexico, on Tuesday night, October 20, 2026.
The terrifying incident was captured on cellphone video, which shows the ride spinning at high speed before Gabriela suddenly falls from her seat and plummets toward the ground. I will put the video in the comments.
Other passengers can be heard screaming as the ride continues moving following her fall.
The attraction, also identified in local reports as the Loop Fighter, is an extreme amusement ride that swings riders back and forth like a pendulum while rotating and turning them upside down. The attraction reportedly reaches heights of approximately 79 feet.
Emergency personnel rushed to Gabriela’s aid following the accident. She was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where she tragically died from her injuries early Wednesday morning, October 21.
The Los Cabos municipal government subsequently confirmed her death, expressing condolences to her grieving family.
Gabriela had her entire future ahead of her.
She had just graduated from Colegio de Bachilleres Plantel 10 in Cabo San Lucas as part of the Class of 2026.
Her former school released an emotional tribute, remembering Gabriela for her beautiful smile, kindness and warmth toward others.
The school also shared a photograph of Gabriela wearing a sash identifying her as “Princesa Cobach 10.”
Her former classmates and teachers are now mourning the loss of a young woman who had only recently celebrated one of life’s biggest milestones.
Meanwhile, serious questions are being raised about how Gabriela could have fallen from the attraction.
Authorities have not determined whether the tragedy resulted from a mechanical malfunction, a failure of the ride’s safety restraints, operator error or another cause.
The Baja California Sur State Attorney General’s Office has launched an investigation to determine exactly what happened and whether anyone should be held responsible.
The ride has been shut down and secured as investigators examine the circumstances surrounding Gabriela’s death. Additional safety inspections of festival attractions have also been announced.
The tragedy has already prompted changes within the local government.
On Wednesday, October 21, officials announced that Francisco Cota Márquez would be replaced as head of the municipal Civil Protection Department while the investigation continues.
Diego Camacho Hale has been appointed acting director.
According to local reporting, the department had conducted an inspection of the festival’s amusement rides just four days before Gabriela’s fatal accident.
That revelation has intensified questions about whether proper safety procedures were followed and whether the attraction should have been permitted to operate.
However, investigators have not publicly established that negligence contributed to Gabriela’s death, and no arrests have been announced.
Los Cabos Mayor Christian Agúndez expressed his condolences to Gabriela’s family, emphasizing that the community must come together to support her loved ones.
Rest in peace, Gabriela Rodríguez Tezoco.
