Jerry Dipoto said that had he also been let go, "it'd be justified."

The waterworks continue here at T-Mobile Park.
J.P. Crawford can’t hold back tears under his sunglasses as he’s pulled from what could be his final game in a Mariners uniform -- and to a standing ovation.
As he comes off the mound following a leadoff walk here in the 5th inning -- which was his first baserunner of the day -- Logan Gilbert salutes Rick Rizzs all the way up in the booth.
Holy Smokes, what a tribute.
The entire Mariners’ team emerges from the home dugout and onto the field here at T-Mobile Park, tipping their caps to Rick Rizzs moments before his final game.
It was all a gesture of surprise. The water works have begun.
The autograph lines have already formed for Rick Rizzs ahead of his final game in the radio booth.
And of course, @MarinersPup is at his side -- and snagging treats.
Kade Anderson's final start ended earlier than hoped, but he avoided a significant scare after taking a 103.8 mph comebacker off his pitching arm.
And now, he sets his sights on 2027.
"i've learned to understand that my stuff still plays here."
