ALT Flash flood risk for this evening into mid-day Friday. A slight risk (level 2 of 4) for excessive rainfall spans much of western into central Iowa tonight, then central into eastern Iowa Friday. Swaths of rainfall around 1 to 3" expected, with locally higher amounts possible. Ponding of water is likely and flash flooding may occur, especially in urban areas. Rural areas will have drier soils and crops to help absorb rainfall, but high rain rates could still lead to excessive runoff. Local rivers and streams may also see rises.
