We’re absolutely delighted that @educationgovuk will be going ahead with @DMSsocial and the University of Nottingham Maths School.
Ministers have recognised the value of University Maths Schools in preparing future mathematical scientists, securing unparalleled progress and outcomes for underrepresented students, and in raising attainment in maths across their regions.
We’re excited to work with @educationgovuk, @durham_uni, Providence Learning Partnership, the @UniofNottingham and @emetrust to complete the national programme and to open these schools in the North East and East Midlands.

We were delighted to be in attendance at the House of Commons last night at the invite of Baroness Alison Wolf DBE, in support of Durham Mathematics School.
This evening we mark the launch of the University Maths Schools Network (U-Maths) in the House of Commons, hosted by Baroness Alison Wolf DBE.
With contributions from Alex Gerko (CEO of XTX Markets, founding supporter of U-Maths), Members of Parliament, school representatives, and alumni, the event brings together voices from across education, industry and policy.
Together we’re celebrating the achievements of the University Maths School programme - and shaping an ambitious vision for excellence and equity in mathematics education.
The North East - the region most affected by geological disparities - is still without a maths school, despite having well advanced plans to open one led by
@durham_uni and @DSFCOfficial -

This year’s exam results laid bare the regional divide in students taking maths beyond GCSE – but the government can address this by approving plans for more maths schools, says the CEO of @UMathsNetwork
