Sunday 10/25, we're excited to be knocking doors in Berkeley for a councilmember who's spent his career building the Democratic environmental movement. Before Igor Tregub represented Berkeley's District 4 on City Council, he founded the Young Democrats of America's Environmental Caucus — and was its first chair — then went on to chair the California Democratic Party's Environmental Caucus. Council Chair Michelle Deatrick: "I've had the privilege of working alongside Igor for years. He's been crucial to building the Democratic environmental movement." Join us: 2199 California St, Berkeley, CA — 10am PT. RSVP: demclimate.org/Igor

54 years ago today, Congress overrode Nixon's veto to pass the Clean Water Act. Now Trump's EPA wants federal protection only for wetlands that hold water every single day of the year. NRDC: at least 94% of lower-48 wetlands could lose it. floods.org/news-views/policy…

Data centers are on the ballot in Michigan's Senate race. Democrat Abdul El-Sayed laid out his terms back in January: protect other ratepayers from the costs, protect water and reliability, guarantee community benefits, and follow Michigan's clean energy laws. He supports state and local moratoriums. Republican Mike Rogers endorsed Trump's plan to fast-track AI infrastructure in March. In August, the same month a poll found 62% of Michigan voters oppose new data centers, he floated a one-year pause. Abdul led. Mike followed the polls.

Today is Children's Environmental Health Day. The EPA's own website says kids "eat more food, drink more water, and breathe more air in proportion to their body weight than adults." So the safety of that food, water and air is especially important to children - and the EPA promised to fill its children's health committee by March 1. Seven months later, that's an unkept promise. And while Trump leaves those seats empty, his EPA is rolling back the protections that keep kids safe from mercury and soot in the air and PFAS in their drinking water. environmentalprotectionnetwo…

Last call: public comment on rescinding the Roadless Rule closes TODAY 10/6. For 25 years, the rule has kept logging and new roads out of 45 million acres of national forest. Roads bring fire: wildfires are approx 4x more likely to start near a road than in roadless forest. Add your comment: act.sierraclub.org/actions/N…
