The DPP strongly condemns Beijing’s obstruction of President Lai’s state visit to Eswatini. Coercing third-party nations to revoke flight clearances is an unaceptable violation of international norms. The DPP calls on all parties to stand united. We stand firmly behind our diplomatic and national security teams. No amount of coercion will stop Taiwan from engaging with the world.

While KMT politicians seek favors in Beijing, friends of Taiwan in the US Congress are standing up for Taiwan’s defense. 🛡️ Many thanks to the bipartisan group of Senators Shaheen, Curtis, Tillis and Rosen for urging the passage of our special defense budget. Accelerating domestic production of drones and missile systems is critical for deterrence. It is time for the opposition to stop playing politics with our safety and work together to protect our democracy.

Today marks 47 years of the Taiwan Relations Act. This enduring partnership remains the cornerstone of peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific. 🇹🇼🇺🇸  As we face rising challenges, Taiwan must demonstrate our resolve and commitment to safeguarding our democracy and working with like-minded partners to ensure a free and open future. Appeasement only invites further aggression. We urge the opposition to pass the National Defense Special Budget Act to secure Taiwan's freedom and democracy.

We reflect upon the importance of safeguarding Taiwan's civil liberties and the democratic way of life.
