Absolutely delighted to share that I’ve been awarded a Wellcome Early Career Award for my project Towards Tourettic Futures! 🎉 This will be a five-year project exploring what tourettic ways of moving, sensing and communicating can teach us about health and difference.

I’m also over the moon to be staying at Durham University for this next stage of my career! I’ll be moving to the Department of Sociology, while continuing my involvement with the Institute for Medical Humanities and Moving Bodies Lab.

Huge thanks to all the collaborators and support networks who offered advice, feedback, encouragement, and good coffee throughout the application process. I’m so excited to help shape the future of Tourettic Studies with tourettic people ourselves at the centre of it all. 🩵

I'm going to keep saying it. Tourette's is a physical disability. It's not just habits or quirks or impulsive swearing but worse. It is a movement disorder. It means you don't have full control over what your body does. It's not chosen, involuntary and *disabling*.

And just like that, the end of an era! I submitted my #PhD thesis this morning and I’m reflecting, feeling awfully grateful to the folks who were involved in the project. This was more than just a thesis to me, but a journey of solidarity and crip kinship formation. 🖤

@TICYorkshire - Thank you for everything. The participants, both at TIC and otherwise, taught me more than I could have ever expected about community and disabled kinship. Here's to future collaborations 😎

This is @thelizcarr, in 1 minute 30 seconds, summing up perfectly why assisted suicide is a disability rights issue.

🚨DR UK's Statement on Passing of Assisted Dying Bill We stand firmly against a law that risks pressuring Disabled people into decisions driven by lack of options rather than genuine choice. This bill could reinforce the narrative that Disabled people’s lives are less valuable.
