Let's fact-check this IDBI lie
Lie 1: "IDBI made profitable by public funding, why sell?"
Truth: IDBI was made NPA by UPA. In Sept 2018, Gross NPA was 31.78% - BANK WAS DEAD. Modi Govt + LIC put Rs 24,000cr in 2019 to SAVE it, not to run it forever. Now NPA is 2.32% and profit Rs 9,513cr. So govt rescued with public money, revived, and now encashing Rs 52,878cr. This is EXACTLY what you do - buy sick PSU, cure it, sell at profit. What should govt do? Run banks forever?
Lie 2: "Why controlling stake? Why not minority/tranches?"
Because no one buys minority in a bank you can't control. IDBI is already classified as PRIVATE BANK since 2019 (after LIC took 51%). Govt decided in 2021 to exit fully. Strategic buyer needs 51%+ to get RBI license, to bring management, capital. Selling 5% via OFS every year is Congress style disinvestment - and IDBI share was Rs 40 in 2020. You would have sold at scrap then.
And FYI - Govt is NOT selling 100%. After this sale, Govt still holds 15% + LIC 19% = 34% retained. Govt will sell that 15% later in market at higher price. So tranches happening only.
Lie 3: "Sold below reserve price at Rs 81 vs Rs 94.42 - Railway scrap rule"
Biggest lie. Official PIB press note (Oct 14):
- Round 1 in FY26: Reserve was Rs 94.42 - ALL bids were below, GOVT REJECTED. No sale. That's 56 inch, not folding.
- Round 2 in FY27: Fresh valuation by 2 INDEPENDENT agencies after March 2026 results. Average fair value = Rs 75.99 per share. Fairfax bid Rs 81 = Rs 5 ABOVE fair value, Rs 3917cr EXTRA value created. Cabinet approved.
- Railway Stores Code? RFP clause you quote - Clause says "if bid below reserve, GoI will decide further course". GoI decided to go for fresh best-offer round. That's exactly what happened. No scrap rule used. Finance Ministry clarified yesterday Oct 30 - reserve price was neither decreased nor increased, first round became functus officio.
Lie 4: "Fairfax threatened to walk away, govt folded"
Where is letter? Source? Fairfax is Prem Watsa - Indian-origin, Canada's biggest investor. His bid cleared RBI "fit and proper" + MHA security clearance + CCEA + Inter-Ministerial Group + Core Group of Secretaries.
Double-blind process. If govt folded, why did it reject first round bids?
Real question: If IDBI profit Rs 9500cr is "huge", why did UPA leave it with Rs 31% NPA and Rs 12,000cr loss? Who made it sick?
Rahul Gandhi says "Bombay House under threat" - Same Rahul who said HAL, BSNL, LIC will be sold? LIC IPO is now Rs 6 lakh cr market cap. HAL share Rs 4,800 from Rs 800.

Questions on #IDBI sale need answers !
IDBI was made profitable. By public funding.
IDBI profits are at Rs 9500 crore. Per year. Approximately. That’s huge.
Why not sell minority ownership? Why controlling shares? Why not in tranches?
So who should control the levers of negotiation for a successful bank? Obviously, the government.
But it allowed Fairfax the arrogance and audacity to write that if asked to rebid, it would walk away. The buyer gave us a cocky attitude, and had the last laugh.
The government simply folded. Not 56” at all.
And to justify a below-reserve price, a note quotes the Railway Stores Code, the rule for auctioning scrap. A bank earning ₹9,500 crore a year was sold under rules meant for railway scrap. How does that make sense?

S.Y. Quraishi is playing politics, not stating service record.
Here's the actual story of Gyanesh Kumar's appointment - with facts:
1. Who is he? Not a random political appointee:
- 1988 batch Kerala cadre IAS, B.Tech Civil IIT Kanpur, Business Finance ICFAI, Environmental Economics Harvard.
- 30+ years service: Asst Collector Ernakulam, Sub-Collector Adoor, Municipal Commissioner Cochin, Secretary Finance/PWD Kerala.
- Centre: Joint Secretary Defence, Joint Secretary & Additional Secretary Home Affairs, Secretary Parliamentary Affairs, Secretary Cooperation.
- Retired as Secretary on 31 Jan 2024.
2. The "unfit for Additional Secretary/Secretary panel" claim is pure gossip:
If he was unfit, how did he become:
- Additional Secretary Home Affairs [2019-2020]
- Secretary Parliamentary Affairs
- Secretary Cooperation [2022-2024][2021]
Promotion to Secretary is done by ACC headed by PM and vetted by DoPT. You don't become Secretary of 2 ministries if you are "found unfit". Quraishi is quoting "according to reports" - which reports? No file notings shown.
3. "Close to Amit Shah, architect of Article 370, Ram Mandir Trust":
This is actually his JOB. In Home Ministry, he was Joint/Additional Secretary Kashmir Division when Article 370 abrogation decision was taken. Implementation is bureaucracy's job, not political favour. Same for Ram Mandir Trust - MHA had to create trust after Supreme Court verdict in 2019. Calling administrative implementation as "closeness" is absurd.
Every Home Ministry officer then would be "close to Shah".
4. How was he appointed CEC? First CEC under new 2023 Act:
Earlier, President appointed CEC on PM's advice, no law.
After Supreme Court 2023 judgement in Anoop Baranwal case, Parliament passed CEC & EC Act 2023:
Stage 1: Search Committee headed by Law Minister [Arjun Ram Meghwal] + 2 Secretaries shortlists 5 names. Criteria: must have held Secretary rank + integrity + election management experience.
Stage 2: Selection Committee = PM Modi + Cabinet Minister nominated by PM [Amit Shah] + Leader of Opposition [Rahul Gandhi] - selects final name. President appoints.
Gyanesh Kumar was appointed Election Commissioner on 14 March 2024, worked on 2024 Lok Sabha, J&K, Haryana, Maharashtra, Delhi elections. After Rajiv Kumar retired, he was senior-most EC, so selected as 26th CEC on 19 Feb 2025. Tenure till 26 Jan 2029. Rahul Gandhi gave dissent note saying wait for SC verdict on composition of committee [CJI was replaced by Cabinet Minister]. SC is hearing challenge, but appointment is valid as per law passed by Parliament.
So legally: Selected by statutory committee, eligibility Secretary rank fulfilled, dissent recorded, appointed by President.
Quraishi's narrative is personal opinion, not record.
Let him cry , even more loudly!!
The SIR is a Scam!
Former CEC S.Y. Quraishi calls the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls “nothing less than a fiasco” and “a scam” driven by “complete bad intention.”
Speaking in a wide-ranging interview recorded for the London Vārta with me in London, Mr Quraishi said the exercise finds no mention in the Constitution, the Representation of the People Act, or the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960. “For the last 75 years, the Election Commission has been updating the electoral rolls every year,” he noted. “All three of these laws apply in this case, and none of them contains any provision for an SIR.”
He highlighted the one-sided nature of the process: “In today’s controversy we’ve seen deletions, deletions, deletions everywhere. There should also be additions somewhere. If people have migrated from here, they must have gone somewhere. But all these migrations were happening in thin air. Nearly 130 million migrated from where to where?”
On the stated rationale, Quraishi pointed to the launch in Bihar: “When this exercise began, you may recall, in the press conference in Bihar the CEC said that there are lots of infiltrators here, and to catch the infiltrators we will do a Special Intensive Revision. They made 80 million people run around, because they introduced several new things. To this day it is not known how many infiltrators were caught. Please tell us that. That’s interesting. After the revision in Bihar, it never came out how many infiltrators there actually were—the ones for whom, in a way, the whole exercise was being done.”

The best statement to come from the best leader of the most responsible nationalist organisation which always transcended it's own organisational interest to support the nation even though it was led by congress governments which were keen on destroying the RSS
When Mohan Bhagwat says something it isn't an ordinary statment. It is backed by RSS penance and discipline that always upheld larger national interest and not any narrow interest.
See the RSS record of the last 75 years (With refrences)!
1. When Maharaja Harisingh was in two minds about accession, at the instance of Sardar Patel RSS chief Golwalkar went to J&K on Oct 17-18 1947 and persuaded him to accede which he did on Oct 26
Ref: India: Shedding the Past, Embracing the Future, 1906-2017, written by Arun Bhatnagar
2. When in 1963 Nehru who hated RSS banned it and said he will not give an inch of land for Bhagwa to fly invited it to join the RDay parade it participated
Ref: While the left disputed Nehru invited that RSS participated was a fact. It is foolish to say RSS participated without Nehrus allowing it to be invited
3. When Shastri asked Guruji Golwalkar for volunteers during the 1965 war. It offered 4 lakh volunteers

4. When Jana Sangh wanted Punjabi Hindus to disown Punjabi language and declare Hindi as their mother tongue RSS put up posters held public meetings asking Hindus to say punjabi as their mother tongue

5. In 1969 when the Congress (which under Indira was baying for RSS blood) split and Jana sangh saw it as an opportunity Golwalkar said congress split was not in national interest
Ref: share.google/aimode/yKhlDdRx…
6. During the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) actively aligned with the national interest and mobilized its volunteer network to support Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's government and the Indian Armed Forces.
The RSS officially paused political differences to offer unconditional cooperation during the national crisis:
In line with their activities in previous wars (1962 and 1965), thousands of RSS volunteers mobilized across India to act as a crucial secondary support forces
Despite the deep political and ideological divide between the Congress and the RSS, the 1971 war created a brief period of mutual national alignment:
Golwalkar's Praise: Following India's historic victory and the surrender of Pakistan on December 16, 1971, RSS Chief M.S. Golwalkar wrote a warm, congratulatory letter to Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on December 22, 1971. He praised her leadership, stating that "the biggest measure of credit for this achievement goes to you
Ref: share.google/aimode/evaeaHXN…
In return for all this the congress abused the RSS banned it jailed thousands of Swyamsevaks during emergency
But the RSS resisted the Emergency through non violent satyagraha
7. During the early 1990s—a period when the BJP's political influence grew rapidly through the Ram Janmabhoomi movement—the RSS engaged in parallel, back-channel negotiations with the centrist governments of Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar and Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao to explore a peaceful, negotiated settlement
Confrontation would have been more beneficial for RSS but upheld national interest over it's own
8. During the UPA years the RSS did not launch any agitation for Ayodhya Temple-- it's core issue -- but preferred to wait for 15 years for judicial resolution
Still the Sonia Congress abused it as fascist and not law abiding
9. Sonia rule attempted to fix the falsely in the cross border sanjhauta terror to make the world look at RSS as a terrorist outfit
Ref: share.google/aimode/pYflmJVO…
10. During the UPA rule the BJP brought up in RSS culture launched mass but peaceful agitations in 2005, 2007 and 2011 and Vajpayee Advani and other leaders courted arrest and did not jump on traffic barriers
Two different cultures noticed by media is brought out in the next tweet

Rampal was born blind. He has never seen a colour, a face, or even his own hands.
But when he was just 4 years old, his father put wet clay in those hands and started teaching him how to make idols. Learning took him almost 10 years. His hands got hurt many times, and some people laughed at him. Still, he kept going.
Today, at around 50, Rampal makes idols of Maa Durga and only by touch. He is from West Bengal, and every festive season he works at Baburhawa chauraha in the Chhawani area of Basti district, Uttar Pradesh. He knows good soil just by feeling it. He uses field soil and natural colours, so his idols melt back into the water after the festival. His wife, his son and his daughter-in-law work beside him
In his life, he has made more than 700 idols. People book them months in advance.
This Durga Puja, many of us will stand before Maa Durga and fold our hands. Somewhere, a man who has never seen her face gave her that face with his hands and his faith.
