the "inflection" OpenAI CFO Sarah Friar was talking about: cnbc.com/2026/08/19/open-ai-…
May startle the markets with this but: OpenAI is growing faster than Anthropic, actually.
While data through Q2 shows tepid growth for OpenAI vs. Anthropic, Q3 to date shows that OpenAI has surpassed Anthropic in QoQ enterprise growth: 82 vs. 76.
Why? GPT-5.6 Sol is really good, increasingly the choice for developers. Fable 5, meanwhile, disappointed both in adoption and real-world application given price + data retention requirements imposed by regulators.

The ECB continues the series of rate decisions today. In the past 24 hours Bank of Canada hiked 75BPs, RBA only 50BPs. Market-implied odds favor a 75BP move from ECB and Fed. BOE is a coin toss as Truss's energy policy is revealed

Upwards volatility (e.g. a 6% gain on S&P 500 in five days) tends to happen during troughs. Since 2001: all 57 times stocks have rallied at least 6% in a week the S&P 500 was higher a year later. G #BTV 5941<GO> on the terminal.
My favorite chart of the day, maybe week: M2 money supply growth vs $VIX - increase in cash = volatility. Enough other factors (cyclicality, policy, etc..) points to correlation, not causation.
