In 1971, @Philips commissioned Syd Mead to envision a transportation system built around illumination. In this proposal, a specialized hauler carries high-powered lighting units and liquid helium tanks that inflate mirrored balloons suspended above a stadium. Light is projected upward from the vehicle and redirected by laser-controlled reflection, bathing the arena in a precisely engineered glow. Mead sharpens the drama through contrast, setting intense beams against deep shadow so that light becomes both subject and structure.

These look beautiful. I need to add them to the Kendall Reviews library.
I've read very little HPL, and these look to be a stunning way to start that journey.

Rome did not fall to barbarian hordes, civil war, or treachery. It was vampires.
