Insanely rich anthropologist and VC. Humans make my day. Left of center socially and right of center economically. Canada isn’t broken.

When these people were occupying our capital to overthrow our elected government, your party supported them and your party leader brought them coffee and donuts.
Truth hurts, I guess.
For more than a decade, the Liberals have tried to rewrite our history, apologizing for Canada more often than they’ve championed it. And now this guy wants to lecture us on national pride?
You don’t get to burn the flag and then complain someone else isn’t waving it hard enough.
The Globe columnist wants a patriotism test where Conservatives get interrogated for what strangers say, while Liberals get a pass for what their own government does.
Don’t let anyone tell you you’re not Canadian enough for their version of Canada. Strong democracies need a strong opposition, don’t let them convince you otherwise no matter how big the subsidies are. 🇨🇦

USCGC Healy, one of only two US icebreakers expected to operate in the Arctic during this year's shipping season, has been towed back to port with an engineering casualty.
The issue is, apparently, with a crankcase in one of the vessel's engines, though the extent of damage is currently unclear.
In 2020, Healy experienced a fire that prevented her from deploying to the Arctic that year, while in 2024 she experienced another fire which was quickly repaired and allowed her to deploy approximately six weeks later. Whether Healy will make it to the Arctic this year is unknown.
Meanwhile, the US's other northern icebreaker, USCGC Storis, was last reported in the Bering Sea, continuing a series of deployments that appear aimed at verifying specific capabilities during her first operational season since being converted from a commercial tug for use by the US Coast Guard. It will be interesting to see how much of Healy's responsibilities she is able to take on.
If Storis is not available, it is possible that Canada will be asked to assist with the shortfall in capacity for vital operations. The Canadian Coast Guard operates 18 Arctic-capable icebreakers -- nine of which have planned operations in the Arctic this summer and fall -- while the Royal Canadian Navy operates six more.
Canadian icebreakers already lend aid to the United States, through supporting the annual sea-lift to Pituffik Space Base -- the US's strategically vital military base in Greenland.
The US's ongoing trade war against Canada, especially recent escalations, and inflammatory comments from US President Donald Trump that "We don't need anything Canada has" may impact public support for extending such assistance. However, these issues have generally not impacted how organizations like the two countries' Coast Guards or militaries have cooperated at an operational level.

FYI. The agreement link is in this post. It was between Michigan and Canada. The US Feds wanted nothing to do with it. Canada is paying for everything right down to the plaza on the US side. The agreement states we get the tolls. teapawt.org/annwmac/status/2072990…
@petehoekstra you're a mouthpiece for a liar Here's a PDF of the agreement from 2012. Canada paid for the bridge with MICHIGAN, not the feds, using workers and materials from BOTH countries and Canada is responsible for the upkeep of plazas on both sides.

The USA remains at the table with Canada and Mexico.
The 2019 agreement contemplated for exactly this path so that partners could stay together while working on the terms.
They did not trigger an exit clause though any partner could. This was a conscious decision.
Carry on.

The US pressure tactic of refusing was expected. Canada shouldn’t rush into a bad deal. The most important line in Greer’s statement is: “However, the Agreement remains in force pending resolution of these issues or until the Agreement’s termination.” ustr.gov/about/policy-office…

Today, Canada’s Chief Trade Negotiator and I met with our American and Mexican counterparts to undertake the Joint Review of the CUSMA.
I reaffirmed Canada’s unwavering support for the CUSMA and its renewal. The agreement remains in force until 2036 and can be renewed at any time for another 16-year period.

1. Prime Minister Mark Carney has restored a measure of dignity, intellectual seriousness and technocratic competence to the nation’s highest office.
2. "There is also a broader strategic reality Canadians must confront. Allies value Canada, but their support is not unconditional. If Canada’s relationship with the U.S. deteriorates significantly, or if its economic performance continues to lag, its strategic importance will decline. Investment and attention will shift elsewhere, exacerbating domestic challenges."
3.#Japan's former PM #Koizumi has lessons for how PM Carney can and should do manage extremist in the Liberal Party of Canada • Parti Libéral du Canada so he can return #Canada to the center.

Heard of HondurasGate? Leaked audio shows coordination between Trump, Netanyahu, convicted narco terrorist pardoned by Trump Juan Orlando Hernandez, and Argentinian president Javier Milei? It’s a scandal of epic proportions that no one is talking about.
