Excited to share our paper in @CurrentBiology! We extend human electrochemistry to clinical depth electrodes (epilepsy) and show (1) noradrenaline (NA) dynamics in amygdala reflect attention and arousal and (2) NA-pupil coupling varies with cognitive state cell.com/current-biology/ful…

We have 15 open positions at Astera Neuro! We're hiring experimental and computational neuroscientists and engineers to build a large-scale research effort aimed at understanding consciousness = the brain's internal model of world and self.
astera.org/careers/#box=neur…
We're looking for:
• Experimental Neuroscientists
• Computational Neuroscientists
• Optical Engineers
• Hardware Engineers
• Software Engineers
• Probe Engineers
• and more!
I'll share much more about our scientific vision soon. For now: I know we could never have built this in academia. The confluence of talent across different domains, the purposive design of the org structure and open science approach, and the deep, long-term support, all aimed at cracking the brain's internal model, is unprecedented.
If you want to understand consciousness, if you sense a huge gap between our internal experience of the world and our scientific understanding of it, if you believe systems neuroscience needs a fundamentally different, collaborative, and scaled up approach, we are building the ideal research environment for you.
I've never been more excited in my life. Across Astera Neuro, Astera AI, and Astera Simplex, we're creating a whole new discipline around one question: how does the brain build a world model: a symbolic system that perceives the real world from flickering sensory input streams and can think, plan, and experience? Everyone here is converging on this question from a different direction. The degree of conceptual focus combined with tactical breadth is thrilling.
If this sounds like you, come join us.

We review studies showing that when brain areas face similar computational demands in social and non-social context, they perform the same computations. We argue that exaptation (repurposing of traits for new functions) played a key role in brain evolution.

Deadline is approaching for this postdoc opening in my group. Deadline is June 15th. You want to analyse a lot of cool foraging data both behavioral and neural.... may be also metabolic signals to understand mechanisms underlying social foraging, submit your app :D
Please share around this Job ad :
Are you excited about foraging ? do you want to analyse multidimensional large scale behavioural, metabolic and neural data ? I have a job opening for you :D
I have an opening for a postdoc in my @IntBioPhysics group. The Postdoc will be working as part of a recently funded Human Sciences Frontiers Program (HSFP) research grant ‘”Neurometabolic mechanisms underlying social foraging” in collaboration with the experimental groups of Robert Froemke (New York University) and Jee Hyun Choi (Korean Institute of Science and Technology). The project aims to understand neuro-metabolic mechanisms underlying social foraging. The PostDoc will have the opportunity to travel to the collaborators in New York and Seoul.

What's new in deep brain stimulation (DBS)? Check out the newest edition of the Proceedings of the DBS Think Tank XII held at the University of Florida Fixel ,and also read the new collection of articles in Frontiers w/ an accompanying editorial. Will temporal interference make a move into clinical practice? Will we keep personalizing stimulation for epilepsy? Are we getting better at troubleshooting DBS when things don't go as planned? Does the operating room testing predict the clinic?
Key Points:
Advancements in neurotechnology continue to shape and develop clinical management to improve long-term patient care and outcomes. Advances in DBS programming require a precise and personalized approach to lead implantation and programming. Non-invasive stimulation is emerging not only as a potential treatment for neurological diseases but also as a powerful tool for studying brain circuits.
