Let me make something perfectly clear. I don't give a shit about being popular. Never have. Never will. One of the biggest problems in this country is that nobody knows how to have an authentic conversation anymore. Everybody's worried about offending somebody, losing followers, or pissing off the wrong person. Not me. I grew up in Delco. BLUE collar Delaware County, PA. We call shit what it is. We don't sugarcoat everything because somebody might get their feelings hurt. Somewhere along the way, people got it in their heads that their opinions are supposed to mean something to everybody else.Newsflash. They don't. And the arrogance of approaching another grown adult like your approval or disapproval is somehow going to change their behavior is absolutely astonishing. I've been speaking my mind my entire life. I've stood up to people with money, power, political connections, and attorneys. You really think some stranger on social media telling me I'm too aggressive is going to make me lose sleep? Give me a break. I haven't sold my soul for a paycheck, a PAC, a political party, or a seat at anybody's table. I haven't stepped on people to get ahead. I haven't kissed anyone's ass for access. And I sure as hell haven't changed my convictions depending on who's popular that week. I've paid a price for standing my ground. A pretty damn expensive one, actually. But you know what I still have? My integrity. My backbone. And the ability to look myself in the mirror. I care what my son thinks of me. And I answer to God. That's it. You don't have to like me. You don't have to agree with me. Hell, you don't even have to read what I write. But don't come into my space thinking you're going to lecture me into becoming somebody more acceptable to you. I'm not running for prom queen. I'm not auditioning for your approval. And I'm damn sure not taking applications for people to tell me how to live. I'd rather have five real people standing beside me than 50,000 fake ones clapping because I told them what they wanted to hear. Some of you are so busy trying to be liked that you forgot what it's like to actually stand for something. That's your problem. Not mine.
