Absolute fire here from Monique Ryan: “She is a negative force in Australian politics.” For decades Pauline Hanson has been platformed and legitimised despite the racism, bigotry and division. If you’re going to give her the platform and the reach, then hold her to account.

Folks, Brazil is the perfect example of what I’ve said about this platform and Community Notes since Elon launched it. Tonight and all day tomorrow, your feed will fill with thousands of posts claiming the Brazil election was stolen because Lula’s buddy on the Supreme Court extended voting by 2 hours. That claim, we already know, is absolute bullshit. Both campaigns asked for the extension, Flávio Bolsonaro’s included, after bus shortages and bad weather hit voters in several cities. xitter.cf/tommysantos14/status/2… Almost every one of those posts will run note-free. The few that get a Community Note will get it after the damage is done. MAGA propaganda spreads like wildfire here for one reason: Elon Musk designed it that way. Community Notes has always been a red herring. Give it a few hours. Musk will repost one of his favorite stooges with a one-word “Concerning,” and that lie will land in front of his 241 million followers. And Community Notes will never catch up. So when I call Elon Musk Trump’s Joseph Goebbels, I mean every word.
Both Brazil candidates requested voting extensions. MAGA, once again, is lying about a "rigged" election. cartacapital.com.br/politica… "The campaigns of Lula (PT) and Flávio Bolsonaro (PL) requested this Sunday, October 25th, that the Superior Electoral Court extend the voting hours for the second round until 7 PM in localities affected by problems that hindered voters' access to the polls. The requests have different justifications." "While the PT campaign points to failures in public transportation, the Bolsonaro campaign mainly cites rain, flooding, road closures, and changes to polling locations." "Flávio's campaign is requesting two additional hours of voting in 17 municipalities in São Paulo, Paraná, and Santa Catarina. The team is also requesting that the announcement of the presidential results only begin after the polls have closed in the areas covered by the extension."

Elon Musk is without a doubt the most grotesque example of extreme wealth being mistaken for virtuous genius that I’ve ever seen, no contest. A dude whose business empire has had the exceptional luxury of upwards of $38 BILLlON in government contracts, loans, subsidies, and tax credits that lectures us on government waste, fraud, and abuse. He takes a literal fucking chainsaw to government aid, while hundreds of thousands die from the lack of access, and simultaneously engorges himself at the public pig trough of endless money. He then takes the grift cash to buy elections, outright rig them, gains extraordinary access to the backrooms and convinces panting sycophants that he’s “fighting the establishment.” He IS the establishment. Years and years of missed deadlines, self driving promises just around the corner. Spectacular theatrical marketing presentations presented as new technology, with an army of ball riding zombies to explain why his latest failure is actually evidence of 5D chess wizardry. All in line to be the friend he doesn’t have. He was emailing Epstein to find about the “wildest parties” on child rape island, and you people still clamber. Speaking of mouth breathing followers, the cult surrounding him is even more disturbingly dangerous. Every glaring contradiction becomes an insult worthy misunderstanding. Every dumb comment is a masterpiece. Every legitimate totally fair criticism becomes proof that the questioner is stupid, jealous, or secretly working against humanity itself. It’s so blatantly a cult. At what point does this bizarre admiration become deliberately and completely giving up independent thought? You can acknowledge the success of his companies and the remarkable engineering feats without cosplaying that he’s some infallible prophet. And give his employees some credit. He’s a trillionaire with huge political influence, a pretty pathetic appetite for public attention indicative of someone that’s insecure, and a documented history of promise after promise that he doesn’t deliver on. Please, don’t confuse money with intelligence. They rarely go hand in hand. Also, realize that proximity to great power is not synonymous with moral authority. The truth is historically the opposite. And for fucks sake, stop worshipping people who wouldn’t piss on you if you were on fire.

Amanda Seyfried says she turned down Guardians of the Galaxy because she thought a talking tree and raccoon in space would ruin her career "I think turning down Guardians of the Galaxy was just I mean, it’s it was so obvious to me at the time. I’m like, this is not going to be a hit. Like they’re talking, the tree and the raccoon are talking to each other. They’re in space. And also they’re all in space. Yeah. And I was just like I I this will ruin my career if this is bad. And there’s a high chance that this could be bad" "I mean, obviously I was wrong. But I still don’t take back that decision. I made it for myself. I made it for my my family that I knew I wanted to have. And I and I just don’t want to spend all the time in the makeup trailer" "I just I I I I don’t I can’t sit still anyway. Um and I really don’t like stunts and I don’t like heights and I don’t like pretending the entire world. I need something to hold on to" "Not saying it’s not. It’s just not for me"

His genius idea for stealing an election is the same one he's had for 6 years. Scare people about trans kids. "Forward this to your friends" he begs. While he's spending millions to influence them already. But go ahead, do his dirty work for free. Boo! Scary trans people.

The pedophile protection party’s president is laundering right-wing conspiracy theories through the most corrupt DOJ in American history. Whenever the news turns bad, this creep reaches for one name: mine. So let’s make it crystal clear. My name has always been Ilhan Omar. Maybe you should focus on what your VP’s real name is.

What strikes me about J.K. Rowling’s essay, published on 21 October, is the sheer scale of the moral and historical importance she has assigned herself. She has effectively cast herself as a latter-day Orwell, defending objective reality against an authoritarian orthodoxy, protecting the working classes from their intellectual overlords, and rescuing feminism from people who have supposedly betrayed it. And the extraordinary thing is that she appears to regard this interpretation of events as so self-evident that it barely requires defending. There is something profoundly self-aggrandising about a billionaire presenting herself as the authentic voice of working-class women while dismissing those who disagree with her as fashionable, privileged ideologues. But the deeper problem is intellectual. Her essay constructs an entire theory of contemporary political power around a single controversy, with Rowling herself occupying the morally indispensable position at its centre. Her treatment of trade unions is particularly revealing. She cites genuine government statistics showing that graduates and higher earners are more likely to belong to unions, then leaps to the conclusion that union leadership has been captured by privileged believers in gender ideology. Those statistics establish a demographic pattern. They tell us nothing about members' views on trans rights. Her account of history is similarly selective. She describes twentieth-century civil rights movements as authentic grassroots struggles, while characterising contemporary trans activism as an elite project imposed from above. Yet feminism, gay liberation and civil rights all drew on academics, lawyers, political organisations and institutional support. She has simply written these complexities out of her historical narrative. Then there is the Orwell quotation. She invokes 1984 to suggest that disagreement over the meaning of woman is equivalent to denying elementary arithmetic. The Supreme Court's 2025 decision did establish the meaning of sex within the Equality Act, while expressly recognising continuing discrimination protections for trans people. That is a legal ruling with specific consequences, rather than the philosophical revelation she makes it out to be. And there is a distinction worth preserving. Rowling has genuinely supported survivors of sexual violence, and her charitable contributions deserve recognition. Threats and harassment directed at her are indefensible. There are legitimate arguments about privacy, safeguarding and how competing rights should be accommodated. What makes the essay so grandiose is the way she converts those questions into a struggle for civilisation itself. Anyone who shares her interpretation is defending objective reality. Anyone who challenges it is participating in an authoritarian campaign against women, whether knowingly or through ideological capture. She has constructed a political universe in which almost every institution is compromised, almost every disagreement confirms her suspicions, and her own extraordinary wealth and influence somehow reinforce her credentials as the champion of the powerless. It reads increasingly like someone who has mistaken the intensity of her personal convictions for the historical importance of her role in defending them. And that final declaration, “I remain on their side,” is particularly revealing. She has appointed herself the representative of millions of women, decided what their interests are, and assumed the authority to pronounce upon everyone else's feminism. That's quite a position for one person to confer upon herself.

The GRU hacked into Jared Kushner's iPhone. Dutch military intelligence (MIVD) then recruited a GRU spy who gave them access to the hacked phone. What MIVD discovered was that Kushner had access to two bank accounts --one Azerbaijani, the other Israeli --where Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Emirati ruler Mohammed bin Zayed deposited money. It sounds like a slightly far-fetched episode of "Slow Horses," but it's real. And it proves just how eye-poppingly corrupt this administration was and continues to be as its "special envoy" decides the fate of tens of millions in Europe in the Middle East. Simply incredible reporting by Matthew Cole, drawn from his new book on Kushner. vanityfair.com/story/jared-k…
