Congrats @AmanChauhanMD on all your hard work and dedication on this IIT. Happy to have been a part of this with you and look forward to many more collaborative efforts to help patients.
Today marks a special milestone- our first Investigator-Initiated Trial (IIT) publication is now out in Clinical Cancer Research. IITs are hard. They don’t happen because a protocol gets written—they happen because countless people keep showing up, meeting after meeting, year after year. Looking back over the past five years, I’ve lost track of the number of discussions with our core study team, statisticians, the NCI, participating sites, bioinformatics collaborators, pharmacokinetic laboratory, and many others who made this work possible. I’ve been fortunate to be involved in many different types of oncology research throughout my career, but seeing the first IIT that I helped design finally published hits differently. There is something uniquely rewarding about taking an idea from concept to lab to protocol, through regulatory hurdles, patient enrollment, data analysis, and finally publication. Most importantly, thank you to the patients and their families who placed their trust in us. Clinical research moves forward because of your courage. I am deeply grateful to my mentors, colleagues, collaborators, research staff, and friends who believed in this project and helped carry it across the finish line. This publication belongs to all of you. Here’s to the next one—and, more importantly, to continuing to ask better questions for our patients. 🔗 pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/4251… @SusanneArnoldMD @LowellAnthonyMD @OncoThor @DanengLi @NANETS1 @CCR_AACR @UKMarkey @UCSF

Agree with @jgong15. Good to see studies and investigators doing the right thing and reevaluating continuation of studies when new data becomes available and standards of care changes. Putting patients first is key. @ASCO #GI26
Dr. Max rand PhIII COMMIT @NRGonc of #1L #atezo +/- FOLFOX in #MSI-H #mCRC ➡️ improved PFS median 24.5 vs 5.3 mos, immature OS, ORR 36.1 vs 18.9% FOLFOX-atezo vs atezo, respectively. Note, study closed after CM-8HW after 102 pts accrued (right thing to do) @OncoAlert #GI26

Impressive follow up results from Breakwater showing promising OS trend with combination therapy for an aggressive CRC population. How to further improve giving already at quadruple therapy combination. Novel mechanisms of action needed for the future. @ASCO #GI26

Very interesting findings presented @ASCO #GI26. Could GLP1 have different effects on different GI cancers? Some preclinical data in NETs have shown some possibility of increased risk. Definitely an area of interest to watch out for moving forward.
Promising news from #GI26: Popular weight-loss drugs may have the added benefit of reducing #ColorectalCancer risk. Learn more: brnw.ch/21wYZ48 #GLP1RA

#GI26 Provocative but insightful recommendations on how to select patients for LIVER #Transplant for patients with unresectable liver metastases. Liver transplant is here to stay. Early selection is of value. But dogmas e.g. no BRAFV600E or N2 need to be challenged. @OncoAlert

ABC-HCC in intermediate #HCC showing early time to treatment failure benefit with atezo bev versus TACE. If OS can be shown to be positive, a change of strategy from upfront liver directed therapy to saving it at progression to systemic therapy may be preferred. #GI26 @ASCO

keynote 937 negative study for adjuvant #HCC in line with prior results from IMbrave 050. Unfortunately, still lack of positive #HCC trials. Novel strategies needed since given uniqueness of HCC adjuvant population and underlying cirrhosis. #GI26 @ASCO
