Me: I'm 32, and I just got offered $142,000 a year to manage a CEO's entire online personality.
I currently earn about $81,000 in corporate communications, so the offer was hard to ignore. The company is a growing manufacturing firm, and the recruiter described the position as executive communications.
After two interviews, I realized the job was much stranger than the title suggested.
I'd be writing his LinkedIn posts, replying to comments, celebrating employee promotions, sharing personal anecdotes, and giving his opinions on industry news.
HR Manager: "The goal is to make him feel more accessible. Employees should feel like they know the person behind the title."
Me: "Will he approve the posts before they go live?"
HR Manager: "Not every post. He trusts the communications team to handle that."
That answer bothered me more than I expected.
