If you want to understand the state of Edmonton’s leadership, 👀 no further than their failing public services & the ongoing, cruel confinement of Lucy the 🐘at the Valley Zoo. A functional city shows compassion & competence. Edmonton is showing neither. #FreeLucy @EddieRobar !

So @AndrewKnack Studies confirm that human caretakers no matter how dedicated cannot replicate the intricate communication of an 🐘herd. 🐘 communicate through infrasound frequencies that only other 🐘can hear & feel. Without it, they live in total sensory deprivation. #FreeLucy

A two-hour flight, mud like quicksand and a trapped mum and baby. This is elephant conservation in action: emergency response for nature’s giants. When friends far up in Samburu called us for help, we knew we had to act. We have unique expertise in this kind of rescue: last year alone, our Aerial Unit helped extract 17 elephants from similar predicaments. Our pilot loaded one of our fixed-wing aircraft with our custom elephant straps and flew north. This was the scene that greeted him: an adult and calf stuck fast in drying mud. Together with personnel from Ol Malo, Loisaba Conservancy and the Kenya Wildlife Service, we worked the straps around the elephants. First came the calf, who was easier to haul out, then the adult, who proved a much greater challenge. Mission complete, both elephants slowly got their bearings and walked off. It’s the height of the dry season, and times are difficult across the country. When Kenya’s elephants need us, wherever they may be, we will answer the call. The devastating contrast of what is versus what could be. For years, the narrative has been that Lucy is too sick to travel. But assessments show sanctuary care means dramatic health gains. 🇨🇦 is actively blocking her last chance at a peaceful life. Heartbreaking @AndrewKnack

It’s time for #Transparency #Accountability and #Action @AndrewKnack @EddieRobar @CityofEdmonton @edmontonjournal Governance is not just about spending 💰or delivering projects. It is about explaining decisions, answering legitimate questions & being willing to reconsider them.

Three down. Three left. The people have spoken. We have had enough of the chaos, the hatred, the corruption, and the authoritarian idiots who think the world belongs to them. Orbán, Bolsonaro and Vučić have all been rejected by voters. Today, Netanyahu could be next. And Trump looks increasingly likely to earn his own big red cross in the midterms. That leaves Putin. The rest of us must make sure Moscow gets its red cross too, by giving Ukraine everything it needs to defeat Russia’s imperial ambitions. The age of «strongmen» is looking a little less strong. And that is a beautiful thing. Remember when you could wake up in the morning without wondering which country was being threatened, which ally had been insulted, or which international crisis had been manufactured overnight by a man with an oversized ego? When politics was often boring, diplomacy happened behind closed doors, and world leaders generally tried to solve problems instead of creating three new ones before breakfast? It wasn’t a perfect world. Far from it. But there was a certain peace in not having to listen to angry old men demanding the world’s attention every single day. Imagine getting that peace back. Imagine a world where the morning news is about progress, discoveries and possibilities, rather than the latest threats, lies and tantrums. We deserve that world again.
