Does anyone else have issues logging into the @WIRED website? Frustrating considering how many good articles there are on there!

The construction sector accounts for about 16% of cases of forced labour worldwide. The latest blog from CIOB partner Stronger Together highlights how you can spot the signs of modern slavery, and what steps to take once it has been identified: orlo.uk/KW8EF

Great to see a commitment to increase rail freight by 100% within this plan, but surely there's more opportunities to introduce passenger rail in the region as well. globalconstructionreview.com…
Very much enjoying @Tim_Hannigan's book, part history exposé, part travel tour, detailing his walk across Cornwall. Such a rich history across the county, and so much culture and folklore I still don't know after living here for 6 years!
Only eight weeks to go until I'll be swimming from Pendennis Castle to St Mawes Castle to raise money for @RNLI. I've still got a lot of training to go to get ready, but also a lot of fundraising to meet my target!

New Zealand’s government has issued a draft policy statement (GPS) on land transport that proposes “targeted investment” of $NZ 2bn ($US 1.2bn) in public transport over the next three years.

Just signed up for this year's @RNLI Castle 2 Castle Swim from Pendennis Castle to St Mawes Castle, crossing the third deepest natural harbour in the world and hoping to beat my previous time of 48 minutes!
As part of this, I'll be raising money for the @RNLI and all the great work that they do, and would appreciate any and all donations. justgiving.com/fundraising/d…
A bad time for rail in New Zealand. While the cost of both projects was getting out of hand, cancelling them completely instead of looking at cheaper options is not the way to go.
New Zealand's coalition government has pulled the plug on two rail projects, raising concerns about whether other federally-financed rail schemes might also be cancelled.

It's bullshit to say "nothing" has been done – a lot has – but it's investment that's only realised when the thing is built. If the Labour-led govt had just stayed with the surface route like every transport nerd wanted, we'd just about be riding it now.
Today I announced that the Government has scrapped Auckland Light Rail as part of our 100-day plan.
Over $228 million has been wasted on Auckland Light Rail with nothing to show for it. We’re focused on building the infrastructure that Auckland needs.

This is the Man Down Cornwall campaign video for 2024. It’s a thought-provoking watch, but that’s exactly what we want it to be.
Far too many men suffer in silence and are not able to talk openly about how they feel about themselves, their lives and the world around them.
The stigma of male mental health needs to end.
Man Down run talking meetings around Cornwall (UK) for men with mental health concerns. Meetings are run by male volunteers with lived experience of mental health. We run these meetings to help men talk to other men in a safe, supportive environment without judgement.
Together we can eradicate the stigma of male mental health.
We want this video to be shared far and wide. We want to make men understand that the trauma effect and the destruction left behind after a life is taken is unbearable and utterly devastating for everyone involved.
We are so very proud to share this with you all.
