Also, it robs present thinkers! There are scholars of Sheen who are living humans and can say “based on my love of this man and his work, here’s what I think we can learn from him to speak to our moment.” And his life’s work becomes another link in the chain of human learning
The feast of John Paul II has long been a special day for me, as he was the pope of my childhood and a major philosophical influence. And then in 2016, his feast became the day I was ordained a deacon. Hard to believe it’s been ten years—God willing, there are many more to come!
