VBCPS celebrated the opening of a new welding lab at the @ragryphons and Adult Learning Center! 🎉 Made possible by $2 million in Navy funding through the Hampton Roads Maritime Training System, this new facility expands welding education for both high school students and adults in our community. 🌿🐴 Landscape Design and Horticulture Science students from the @TechCenterVB put their skills to work at the @VBPD's Mounted Patrol facility! Students recently helped give the grounds a fresh look by selecting native, low-maintenance plants and creating new garden beds. The project gave them a chance to apply what they’ve learned in class while giving back to the community. Students enjoyed stories shared by Mrs. Rawls, a former Diamond Springs first-grade teacher who continues to volunteer, and Mr. Atem, dean of the School of Business at Norfolk State University and founder and soccer coach of Beach Saint-Germain FC. This past weekend, the Walton Warriors team from @BHSMarlins came together in support of former principal, Mr. Walton, at the Tidewater Walk to Defeat ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis)! Students at the @TechCenterVB are having a fun start to the school year with pasta and marshmallows! 🍝 Culinary Arts I students worked together to build the tallest structure they could using just dried pasta and marshmallows, putting their creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills to the test. #WeAreVBSchools

✈️ Paper airplanes, stunt pilots, and a lot of STEM! VBCPS fifth graders took on a paper airplane challenge while hearing from aerobatic pilot Aarron Deliu and U.S. Navy F-18 Super Hornet pilots last week leading up to the annual STEM Lab Day field trip at @nas_oceana. Students tested their designs, worked through trial and error and learned how perseverance can help turn a goal into reality.
